On choosing to attend the University of North Carolina and play basketball for Roy Williams • “At the end of the day, Coach Williams really made me feel like he wanted me to play for him. Anytime he could be out [in Seattle], he was out there or anytime he could call, he would call. Anything he was able to do to let me know that he wanted me to play for his program, he did. And that meant a lot from a guy on the other side of the United States.”

On being selected as the second pick in the 2005 NBA Draft • “Probably the best moment of my life, I think, because as a kid I always dreamed of being in the NBA, and I think that draft night was the night it was really a reality for me. I was really going to have a chance to live out my dream.”

On his time playing for the Atlanta Hawks • “When I first got here, our team was struggling a little bit. It was tough. It was definitely a learning experience for us all, but for me personally, to see where we are right now and to look back at where we came from, it’s a really satisfying feeling.”
