TASK 1. READING AND UNDERSTANDING

What is Op Art?

Op Art, short for OPTICAL ART, is a style of visual art that uses optical illusions. Op Art works of art (obras de arte) are abstract, and mainly created in black and white. Typically, they give the impression of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns.

When does OP ART start?

Op art started in the 1960s

Who started Op Art?

It started with the Hungarian (húngaro) artist VICTOR VASARELY. , and another artist called Jesús Rafael Soto were some of the most important op artists.

What are the characteristics of op art? The most outstanding characteristics of op art are:

• It uses simple geometric figures that combined, form more complex figures.

• Its main objective is to give us visual effects that simulate that they have movement.

• It intends to fool the eye ( intenta engañar nuestra visión de la obra de arte) TASK 2. LOOK AT THESE OP ART WORKS OF ART
