Bonaire’s national anthem, dating back to 1976, has been updated and can now be heard on the island in a beautiful rendition. Bonairean Jose (“Ito”) Martis, a Gram- my nominated artist, revised the anthem. A local choir practiced for months before recording it over an instrumental rendition produced by an orchestra in Florida. Yeta Rosario, a retired schoolteacher, was involved in both the original recording in the 1970s and the new recording. Together with former school director Henri Toré, she helped to select and guide new members of the choir. The project was funded by the OLB with the enthusiastic support of deputy of Culture, Nina den Heyer. DMR
