GOLF SHOP HOURS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT Monday ~ Sunday TJ WEST

7:00 am ~ 5:00 pm March was a fairly good weather month! The course received 2.25 inches of rain and we saw our last cold temperatures of the season! The nights are still cool, but the daytime Time reservations can be temperatures are beautiful! I just wish that it was not so windy! We will begin our pre-emergent herbicide applications hours can be done from home to eliminate Summer weeds. Ideally this would of happened in March! However, the amount of wind at the end using of the month stopped us from doing the applications!

day through Friday! We are currently working on adding, subtracting, and properly placing sand in bunkers. Be- WINTER tween the wind and washouts from rain, the sand depths are all over the place! Please be patient as this is a lengthy process! If you have an issue with a bunker, do not hesitate to let me know so that we can address it! HOURS With the growing season rapidly approaching, we will begin to lower the height of cut on all mowers. In the fall we Thursday thru Tuesday slowly raise the height in order to have as much leaf tissue as possible. This protects the turf from stress (weather, Front of Range 7am to 5pm cart traffic, etc.). I am very happy with the amount of turf that we have heading into the Spring/Summer! I believe that the turf is the healthiest that it has been, for this time of the year, in my almost 5 years at Grand Haven! We Back of Range 7am to 4pm have a great staff at Golf Maintenance that is working hard to put out the best conditions possible!

Wednesdays April will not only be a busy month for me on the course, it will also be a busy month for me personally! Along th Front of Range 7am to 4pm with all that I mentioned earlier in this newsletter…my wife and I close on the purchase our first home April 5 ! I am already exhausted thinking about the move! However, my wife, kids, and I are excited to have something that Back of Range 7am to 3pm is ours! If that isn’t enough, I will be traveling to Kingsmill for the first Escalante Superintendent Summit. I will be gone for 5 days starting April 22nd! It will be a great experience speaking with the other Superintendents, as well An early close is needed to as the other industry professionals that Escalante will be bringing in!
