Received: 29.10.2018. Accepted: 03.12.2018 A taxonomic study of the genus Campanula L. in the flora of Altai is presented. Based on the data obtained, 14 Campanula species, belonging to 3 subgenera and 7 sections, grow in the territory of the Altai Mountain Country. The subgenus Campanula includes 4 sections and 8 species and is the most diverse in the flora of Altai. An original key is presented to determine the Campanula species in Altai. For each species, nomenclature, ecological and geographical data, as well as information about type material, are provided. New locations of Campanula species are indicated for separate botanical and geographical regions of Altai. The same classification systems are used to arrange the botanical collections of the Tasmanian Herbarium and by the Flora of Australia series published by the Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS). For a more up-to-date classification of the flora refer to The Flora of Tasmania Online (Duretto 2009+) which currently follows APG II (2003). This census also serves as an index to The Student’s Flora of Tasmania (Curtis 1963, 1967, 1979; Curtis & Morris 1975, 1994). A Floristic Study of The Evergreen State College Campus Sam Lohmann June 12, 2006 INTRODUCTION This paper lists the vascular plants that occur on the campus of The Evergreen State College (TESC), and describes the nine principle plant communities of the campus. It is based on my field observations and collections during Spring Quarter of 2006, and also on the specimens housed in the TESC herbarium, collected by numerous workers since the mid-1970s. Pene Speaks’s “The Campus of The Evergreen State College: Soils and Vegetation” (1982) was also a useful resource, and my study is partially a revision and expansion of the floristic information in that article. I used Hitchock and Cronquist’s Flora of the Pacific Northwest (1973) for my identifications, and follow its nomenclature, except for revised family names. The paper follows a format adapted from Bowcutt (1999). It should be noted that this study is not exhaustive. It does not include the many cultivated plants on campus, except if they have naturalized. Although I made an effort to cover many trails and range widely and representatively over the campus, I did not have time to systematically cover the entire grounds. I did not concentrate on grasses or small weeds, and my study does not do full justice to the diversity of these groups on campus. In addition, there were some species collected on campus by other workers, whose presence I was not able to confirm in the field; this is noted in the plant list. Thus the plant list should be regarded as an introduction to the plants of the campus and a starting point for further floristic work, rather than as a complete, definitive catalog. -

The paper deals with the relationships of aphids and their host-plants of the family Campanulaceae (bellflower family). The survey was conducted in xerothermic habitats during the years 2008-2010. A total of 84 plots were examined in the western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. The aphids were collected in 28 plots (42 records). As a result, 4 aphid species feeding on 6 different host plants of Campanulaceae were confirmed. KEY WORDS: Aphidomorpha, aphids, bellflower family, host plants, dry habitats. INTRODUCTION In comparison with other hemipterans, with the exception of the Coccomorpha, the aphids (Aphidomorpha) have the strongest relationships with their host plants. The vast majority (about 80%) of aphid species are monophagous or narrowly specialized oligophagous insects, closely related to a single genus or even a single species of host-plant, or with a few genera of plants from the same botanical family. The remaining aphids are polyphagous, unassociated with any particular group of host plants (OSIADACZ & HAŁAJ 2009). A large number of aphid species are associated with various angiosperms, among which the majority of plant families have their specific aphid faunas (HOLMAN 2009). -

Abstract: Conservation of species is often focused either only on those that are endangered, or on maximising the number recorded on species lists. However, species share space and time with others, thus interacting and building frameworks of rela- tionships that can be unravelled by community-level network analysis. It is these relationships that ultimately drive ecosystem function via the transfer of energy and nutrients. However interactions are rarely considered in conservation planning. Network analysis can be used to detect key species (“hubs”) that play an important role in cohesiveness of networks. We applied this ap- proach to plant-pollinator communities on two montane Northern Apennine grasslands, paying special attention to the modules and the identity of hubs.
