The paper focusses on the theme of motherhood also portrays its glorification and also the contradictions in the film. The paper claims that there are flaws that happens in the real intention of the movie, due to the various contradictions and conflict regarding the issue of delivery and pregnancy of the protagonist. The study intends to analyze how socially relevant movies affect the existing moral consciousness of the society. The major relevance of the movie is that it is for the first time in the Indian film industry, that the original delivery scene of an actress is shown. Thus the paper concludes that even though the movie aimed to make a change in the perception of the society towards the concept of motherhood, it lacked the efficiency to convey the real intention of the movie, which created misconceptions in the society. Key words: Kalimannu, motherhood, social morality, delivery, pregnancy.
