Si usted no desea que Donna I.S.D divulgue la información del directorio del expediente de educación de su hijo(a) sin su consentimiento previo por escrito, debe notificar al distrito por escrito dentro de diez días escolares del primer día de instrucción de su hijo para este año escolar. Esto significa que el distrito debe dar cierta información personal (llamada “información del directorio”) de su hijo(a) a cualquier persona que la solicite, a menos que usted haya instruido al distrito por escrito para que no lo haga. La información del directorio identificada solamente para propósitos limitados auspiciados por la escuela permanece por lo demás confidencial y no se divulgará al público sin el consentimiento de los padres o del estudiante elegible. "Por favor firme y feche esta página, extráigala del manual y devuélvala a la escuela de su hijo." 6 Objeción de los padres a la divulgación de la información del estudiante a reclutadores militares e instituciones universitarias (Solamente aplicable a niveles de grado secundarios) La ley federal requiere que el distrito divulgue a reclutadores militares e instituciones universitarias, si lo solicitan, el nombre, dirección y número de teléfono de los estudiantes de preparatoria inscriptos en el distrito, a menos que los padres del estudiante o un estudiante elegible instruya al distrito de no divulgar información a estos tipos de solicitantes sin el consentimiento previo por escrito. Firma del padre/madre Fecha Favor de notar que si este formulario no se devuelve, el distrito supondrá que el permiso ha sido otorgado para la divulgación de esta información. “Por favor firme y feche esta página, extráigala del manual y devuélvala a la escuela de su hijo." 7 Formulario de consentimiento/para optar por no participar en una encuesta de información protegida Estimado padre: La ley federal requiere que el distrito le notifique y obtenga su consentimiento o rechazo a la participación de su hijo(a) en actividades escolares que incluyan cualquier encuesta, análisis o evaluación del estudiante, conocida como “encuesta de información protegida”, relacionada con una o más de las siguientes áreas: 1. Afiliaciones o creencias políticas del estudiante o de sus padres; 2. Problemas mentales o psicológicos del estudiante o de su familia; 3. Conducta o actitudes sexuales; 4. Conducta ilegal, antisocial, autoincriminatoria o humillante; 5. Evaluación crítica de individuos con los que el estudiante tiene un vínculo familiar cercano; 6. Relaciones privilegiadas reconocidas por la ley, como relaciones con abogados, médicos o pastores; 7. Prácticas, afiliaciones o creencias religiosas del estudiante o de sus padres; o 8. Ingresos, excepto cuando la información es requerida por la ley para determinar la elegibilidad del estudiante para un programa o para recibir ayuda financiera en virtud de tal programa. Esta notificación y requisito de consentimiento o rechazo también se aplican a la recopilación, divulgación o uso de la información del estudiante para propósitos de mercadeo (“encuestas de mercadeo”), y ciertas exploraciones y pruebas físicas. Para cualesquier actividades fijadas después de que comience el año escolar, el distrito notificará a los padres y les proporcionará la oportunidad de revisar la encuesta y dar consentimiento u optar por que el hijo no participe. Nikki Rowe High School Scholastic Achievement Award Sponsored by Dr. Celestino Avila Bernardo Salas III is a 2015 Donna High School graduate. Bernardo graduated in the top 5% of his class with a 94.35 GPA. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Ambassadors Pro- gram, FFA, FCA, and Grid Iron Heroes. Bernardo was a member of the varsity football team and track team. He was one of the football members who spent time with a Donna HS student whose dying wish was to be part of the Donna Redskins football team. The student was made a team captain for the homecoming game. Bernardo also participated in various other activities for his school and community. Bernardo will be attending Texas A&M University in Kingsville majoring in Mechanical Engineering.   • Historians Against HB 3979 & SB 2202
    May 19, 2021 To Members of the Texas Senate, We are historians against HB 3979 & SB 2202. Students have a right to learn an accurate account of history, including the darkest parts of our history and the long efforts for freedom and social justice. A truthful accounting of history will allow students to learn the lessons of the past to help build a more equal and inclusive future. This legislation is also detrimental for teachers and students in more than one way. This bill places history and civics teachers in a professionally compromising position in the classroom. It is impossible to teach the history of the United States without discussing race, gender, religion, or injustice. That inaccurate account of history would not meet professional standards set by professional historical associations like the Organization of American Historians or the American Historical Association. That version of history would not meet the State Board of Education curriculum standards set by Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Moreover, mandating how topics like slavery must be taught is an overreach of the legislature. Removing lessons that teach students how ideas of race and gender shaped our laws and policies will academically disadvantage students in Texas. They will not be prepared to take Advanced Placement exams for college credit. They will not have the basic foundation in US history or the analytical skills required for students to succeed in colleges and universities. This bill might even prohibit students from taking Dual Enrollment courses taught by high school instructors that accurately teach the history of the United States.
