Tour code: G4 33 Day 1 Fly From To Adelaide Travel North Direct To Marree Fly to Adelaide to arrive at 7.00am for a 7.30am departure from the airport or departure from Adelaide City at 8.00 am. Your journey today will take to direct to Marree, first along the Northern Hwy then cross the Flinders Ranges to Hawker, pass through lots of small settlements, now mainly ruins. Clear evidence of the boom days of the 1880s follow The Old Ghan Railway, see hot springs maybe a paddle. Passing through interesting and changing scenery which will bring you to Marree at approximately 5.00pm. Settle in to the quaint and refurnished original hotel from the days when Marree was the centre of transport – camels and trains – travelling north to The Alice or north east to Queensland along the . *Rain earlier this year has transformed the countryside all ready. The floods have reached a 2 metre depth and there’s lots of water filling the creeks on the western, northern and eastern sides of the lake. The evaporation level is high due to the very dry atmosphere but in spite of this the experts are predicting this will be the ’daddy of all floods!’ Meals: Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner Accommodation: Marree Hotel – Premium = twin share 2.5 star Day 2 Discovering The Secrets of Lake Eyre What a way to start the day - a dawn flight over Lake Eyre which will amaze you. The pilot will choose the final route which could include Warburton Creek, Goyders Lagoon, the larger watercourses of the Diamantina and the Cooper. After your flight your driver will pick up your picnic lunch and drive to William Creek, a small town on the - just a pub, a house or two and a population of 5. Your driver will seek out the latest road conditions for the next stage which will be a journey to the shores of Lake Eyre – tough 4 Wheel Driving but worth it! A trackside spot under a shady tree will be ideal for a picnic lunch then you will see first hand the water in Lake Eyre. Maybe a walk out on the salt pan to reach the shores this will depend on the date of your visit, when the water is filling the lake or evaporating out, maybe you will see flocks of pelican nesting abundant bird life and native animals, will certainly be seen on the track and on the water. An amazing experience! Later in the morning head off for an exciting flight - the ultimate Australian Outback experience, flying over the majestic Kati Thanda - Lake Eyre before stopping in Birdsville for lunch at the pub or bakery. The return flight will include part of the , the famous Birdsville Track and the remote Tirari Desert. The flight is approx. 5 hours with an hour stop in Birdsville.
