Washington, D.C. 20024 MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2005 Commissioner's Award Ceremony. This award recognizes those who, through their hard work and dedication, have made outstanding contributions toward the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse and neglect. The individuals featured in this publication have demonstrated a strong personal commitment to ensuring the safety and well being of children and to supporting and strengthening our nation's families. Awardees come from across the many disciplines involved in preventing and responding to child maltreatment. They represent the fields of social work, education, mental health, health, law enforcement, and the judiciary as well as faith and community organizations. The theme of this year's conference "Supporting Promising Practices and Positive Outcomes: A Shared Responsibility" reminds us that it is through the joint efforts of these committed professionals that many children will have the opportunity to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment and to reach their full potential. On behalf of the Administration on Children, Youth and Families, I extend my warmest congratulations, I commend each of you for your dedication, and I thank you for putting the needs of our children first. /s/ Joan E.
