All of the positions proposed are a necessary result of the expansion of the North Dakota Heritage Center and its growing requests for services to museum visitors, schools, historic sites and communities. As we gather to thank the governors, legislators, donors and supporters, we are reminded that we have the seventh and final recommendation of the governors and the Historical Commission to invest in – “additional history professionals.” The six investments that have been completed to date are the State Archives expansion, regional historic site investments, resources for county and tribal historical groups, investment in heritage tourism, expansion of the Heritage Center and state- of-the-art technologies.
