The district already has good road and railway line connectivity and the headquarters is located at a distance of 75 KMs from the State capital and is in close proximity to already industrialized areas like Sangareddy which is 42 Kms away (Mominpet mandal of this district is just 18 Kms), Shadnagar at 56 Kms away (Kulkacherla mandal is 36 Kms), Pashamylaram 47 Kms, Patancheru 52 kms, kothur 58 Kms and adjoining Chevella and Shamshabad. Tandur, the industrial town of this district has reputed cement industries due to availability of raw material minerals like Limestone, Shale and Laterite. Tandur is famous for its blue & yellow colour Limestone and has about 500 micro stone polishing units, These stone units have created a brand name of its own as Tandur flooring stones. There are around 100 Mining units and 35 Bentonite mineral processing units, indirectly contributing to the export revenue of the State. Existing Industrial Estates: Industrial Estate, Shivareddypet-Vikarabad: This is one of the old estates, established for setting up of general engineering units in the district. This estate comprises of 79 plots with total area of about 1 Lakh Square meters and 19 working units at present. INTRODUCTION In a developmental activity like Limestone Slabs mining, all the exercises must co-exist satisfactorily with its surrounding condition so as to minimize the adverse impact on the environment. To control the likely adverse impacts and to achieve this goal, it is necessary to prepare an Environmental Management Plan, which has to be implemented by the proponents, in order to achieve environmental protection along with production profits. Hence, Environmental Management Plan has been prepared for submission to State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority / State Expert Appraisal committee as per EIA notification 2006 and the amendments thereof for clearance of the proposed mining area. Sri V. Venkata Krishna Reddy has filed an application for quarry lease for Limestone Slabs over an extent of 0.606 Ha.in Sy.
