Mtv’S €˜The Challenge: Vendettas’ Reveals New Cast Members MTV’s ‘The Challenge: Vendettas’ Reveals New Cast Members 12.07.2017 MTV revealed the new players who will join The Challenge: Vendettas when the show returns for season 31 on January 2. Stars from MTV's U.K. series Ex on the Beach and Geordie Shore, along with contestants from Big Brother will join The Challenge cast, which includes familiar faces such as Johnny Bananas" Devenanzio and Cara Maria Sorbello, as they travel to Spain "to pursue their personal vendettas against one another." This season, each of the 28 players are out solely for themselves, not their team, with only one winner competing for a final prize that may exceed $500,000. The winners of each challenge will receive money for their individual bank accounts, but once players are eliminated, their money is added to the final prize pot. In a twist, "grenades" will be awarded to players surviving grueling elimination rounds, giving them a chance to get back at anyone else in the house they may have a vendetta against, MTV says. With everyone out for themselves, players will be able to shake up the drama, doubt and deception with tactics such as stealing an entire bank account from another player, forcing players to be shackled together during another challenge or selecting players to stay up the entire night before a challenge. The Challenge: Vendettas was created for MTV by Bunim/Murray Productions. Gil Goldschein, Julie Pizzi, Scott Freeman and Justin Booth serve as executive producers, and Jack Reifert and Danny Wascou serve as co-executive producers. Here are the 28 cast members as described by MTV, who will compete against one another when The Challenge:Vendettas premieres. Cory Wharton - Twitter: @MTVCoryWharton After a questionable strategy that involved declaring a hit list against the vets at the beginning of Dirty 30, Cory created a vendetta with the most notorious vet in the house, Johnny Bananas. With both of them returning to face each other this season, who will fall first? Devin Walker - Twitter: @MTVDevinWalker This Are You The One? alum has made a name for himself by being consistently witty and always telling it how it is. Devin is the first to admit he's not the fastest or physically strongest player in the house but instead boasts that his ability to manipulate and politic will lead a path to victory. Eddie Williams - Twitter: @mr_ewilliams23 After being a part of the first season to unsuccessfully find their perfect match on, Are You The One? Eddie is eager to get some money in his pocket. Will Eddie be able to use his charm and stripper background to woo the competition? Johnny Bananas - Twitter: @MTVBananas The manipulative mastermind Johnny Bananas continues to hold the record for most The Challenge wins ever. Joss Mooney - Twitter: @joss_mooney Joss Mooney, a fitness instructor, and model from the UK, joins his rookie season of The Challenge, without knowing what he's about to step into. Kyle Christie - Twitter: @KyleCGShore Loud and outlandish British personality, Kyle Christie, is prepared to dominate the competition, while also getting with all the ladies in the house. Leroy Garrett - Twitter: @Bruce_Lee85 If there was one person who is most universally loved in The Challenge house, Leroy would be it. Always cracking jokes, Leroy is known to smile and ride coattails to the top. Nelson Thomas - Twitter: @MTV_NellyT in text center in text This daffy Are You The One? alum is determined to prove that someone from his original show is capable of winning The Challenge. Rogan O'Connor - Twitter: @Rogan_OConner in text center in text Brit Rogan joins The Challenge after being stuck in a house with his exes on Ex on the Beach. Rogan is used to getting his way with the ladies, but will his twitter beef with fellow Brit Kyle prove to be his demise? Or will he flex and smile his way to a final? Shane Lundrum - Twitter: @shannanity This Road Rules veteran has seen his fair share of competition, and when it comes to The Challenge, Shane is not afraid to stir the pot and cause the most drama. Or will his Twitter drama with Brad boil over and tear his game apart? Not afraid to flirt with her roommates, Britni has her eyes on one returning vet, but their relationship will make some waves in the game. Clemency Newman Abstract Looking into the popular reality show Geordie Shore, I will undertake research to answer why it is that the women who appear on the show change their physical appearance and what connection this has to their celebrity status. I hope to argue that because the women are considered lower class, they have no other power than their perceived attractiveness and are therefore pressured into trying to achieve a hyperreal body, relating to Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation. Introduction Reality television is big business, with over 300 reality format shows on air in the US alone (Washington Post, 2015) from Idol to Big Brother, they rake in millions of viewers every night and have a significant impact on popular culture. These shows present a concentrated, edited and scandalised version of everyday life, wrapped in the guise of being true to the viewer, only more dramatic. Television has the ability to shape our view of the world and now with the ever pervasive aspects of social media, networks such as Bravo can imprint an everlasting impression of what we consider normal. However, even when know what we are watching is completely unreal, we accept it as ‘reality’ and accept the characters into our lives, until they become overthrown by a younger, prettier and more outrageous model. Geordie Shore is one such television show which presents an exaggerated, hyperbolic version of reality, with the cast members performing ridiculous, violent and carnal acts in front of a worldwide audience and being celebrated in the process.

Focusing upon a recent project around the Bigg Market, a historic public space, we map the new ‘conservation-planning assemblage’ where ‘other-than- public' forms of management have taken hold. We identify impacts of austerity, deregulation and a smaller state ideology, and show how the agency of heritage assets and narratives in urban context is focussed on economic performance and competitiveness. Within the conservation-planning assemblage, roles and responsibilities have changed, and we reflect on the impact this has on conservation policy and practice.
