Virtual Musical Resources Tahoma Drama Club Software Used: ● Video Editing: Final Cut Pro ● Audio Editing: Logic Pro ○ Since we are both Mac users, we preferred to use Final Cut Pro (basically iMovie on steroids). However, you can also check and see if your Video Productions program already has a license purchased - ours already had a license for Adobe Premiere (for PC). You could be able to save money that way. ○ Apple has an educator bundle that includes both FCP and Logic for a discounted price (as well as three other apps) ○ iMovie has more basic options, but is free. ● Storage and Transfer: WeTransfer.com (upgraded to Pro for more storage - $12 a month; check with your district - they may have a file sharing subscription already) ● All footage was filmed on kids’ personal devices (cell phones) Recording Equipment: ● Green screen kit with stand (10’x12’) ○ There are more inexpensive ones (some as low as $20 for the screen) and a variety of sizes on Amazon ○ I have read that using green tablecloths from the dollar store works very well - just make sure to pull them tight to keep the wrinkles out! ● Ring lights (this one comes with a cell phone holder and a 67” adjustable tripod, as well as a bluetooth remote control) ○ Amazon has many at multiple price points ● Multipurpose Clamps (helpful for hanging green screen if not enough room for stands): ● Microphones (only used for a couple kids - not absolutely necessary): ○ For iPhone ○ For Samsung: We purchased just one of these and I’m not sure I’d use this one again. The iPhone ones were far superior. Useful Final Cut Pro Tutorials (Note: I had never done ANY video editing ever, so I learned everything from these YouTube tutorials): ● This was my favorite one: Tech Talk America - Final Cut Pro X Full Class (be sure to download his free PDF guide) ● Mark Harrison’s FCP Beginner Tutorial ● A Second Mark Harrison FCP Beginner Tutorial ● Mark Harrison’s Top 10 Tricks/Timesavers ● Virtual Choir How-to: Adding a Multiscreen Grid in FCP ● How to Get Gridlines in FCP and Adobe Premiere (useful because he has a “rule of thirds” grid download in the comments for making boxes) ● Larry Jordan’s FCP Training YouTube Channel (100+ videos on various FCP topics) Other Useful Resources: ● MotionVFX - Excellent resource for credits packages and really easy to use with Final Cut Pro ● Adobe Stock and Shutterstock - Great resources for background images. Both offer 10 free images when you sign up and their basic license will cover most educational theatres. ● EdTA Virtual Theatre Resources ● Grid Drawing Tool ● Final Cut Pro Shortcuts - The Big Cheat Sheet Contact Info for Questions: ● Melissa Bean, Director: [email protected] ● Ken Riggs, Music Director: [email protected] .
