NBA: Becky Hammon Could Become Head Coach Soon, Will Interview with Bucks NBA: Becky Hammon Could Become Head Coach Soon, Will Interview With Bucks Author : The NBA is closing in on a monumental milestone. San Antonio Spurs Assistant Becky Hammon could become the first woman to be the head coach of a NBA team. The Milwaukee Bucks will interview Hammon soon. Former Atlanta Hawks Head Coach Mike Budenholzer is the front-runner but there could be an opportunity in Detroit for her. At this time, Milwaukee, Detroit and Atlanta all need head coaches. However, Atlanta doesn't appear to consider Hammon a candidate at the moment. Hammon may not get the Bucks job but don't count her out as a candidate for the Pistons. The Hawks won't hire oddly enough and questions may be raised in Toronto soon. It is too early to speculate if the Raptors will initiate a head coach search but it's worth keeping an eye on. How close is Hammon to taking the lead? It could happen next season. She learned from Greg Popovich so she benefits from his knowledge. Who wouldn't her with such an impressive background? Maybe the Hawks should at least interview her. Teams that need a head coach should do their due diligence and interview Hammon. It would be wise to at least consider her a top-tier candidate. Hammon also played for the WNBA's 1 / 2 New York Liberty. The Liberty traded Hammon to the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2007. Hammon was criticized for playing the Russian National team instead of the United States in the Olympics. Her decision was ill received by many people. She announced here retirement in 2013 following an ACL tear and joined the San Antonio Spurs staff as Assistant Coach in 2014. Is Hammon ready for the next step in her career? The Pistons may be the best fit for Hammon. Detroit is typically a playoff caliber team and she may be the right coach for the Pistons. 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).

  • Investigating the Predictive Relationship Between Sportsmanship
INVESTIGATING THE PREDICTIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPORTSMANSHIP AND CLASS, AGE, TYPE OF SPORT, AND GENDER AT THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY by Daniel J. Furlong Liberty University A Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Education Liberty University 2021 2 INVESTIGATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPORTSMANSHIP AND CLASS, AGE, TYPE OF SPORT, AND GENDER, AT THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY By Daniel J. Furlong A Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Education Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA 2021 APPROVED BY: Ellen Lowrie Black, Ed.D., Committee Chair Kurt Y. Michael, Ph. D., Committee Member 3 ABSTRACT Traditionally, military leaders accentuate military skill development over developing the moral character of soldiers. However, researchers have made recommendations to investigate components of sportsmanship with the intent to align better with the goals of other development programs that seek to promote character. The purpose of this quantitative, correlational design study was to use a multiple linear regression on an archival data set of Character in Sport Index scores to determine if the linear combination of the variables class, age, type of sport, and gender have predictive significance for Character in Sport Index scores. Subjects included 8,701 cadets between the ages of 17 and 27 years old attending the United States Military Academy (USMA) during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years. The findings found that the variables class, age, gender, and type of sport play a statistically significant predictive role in terms of Character in Sport Index scores. Therefore, future discussion may be justified as to investigating other avenues involved in sports education to accomplish assessing traditional institutional methods of character development to identify stronger predictive variables.

Becky Hammon’s hiring as the first full-time female assistant coach in the NBA provided a rich opportunity to utilize Twitter as a way to study perceptions of Hammon throughout her first year on the NBA sidelines and specifically, as a way to hear both mainstream and marginalized voices.
