Four Long Beach elementary school students have opted to attend these schools at a cost of more than $100,000 per year. These funds come directly from our school district’s budget; reducing the amount available for district programs. This is a troubling trend especially as Governor Cuomo is calling for an Season’s Greetings from the Koch Brothers increase in the number of charter schools; a sentiment inexplicably seconded by Board of Regents Chancellor Merryl Tisch. Cuomo and Tisch seem intent on starving the public school system and privatizing education for the benefit of their Wall Street cronies. We cannot let that happen. B.
