Vandry: The Nature of Mary's Universal Queenship THE NATURE OF MARY'S UNIVERSAL QUEENSHIP ALTHOUGH the Scriptures afford our faith no clear testi mony of Mary's Queenship, nor of its universal nature,· that dignity of the Mother of God is nevertheless acknowledged unanimously by the Christian Tradition. Indeed the Church, for a long time now and with great devotion, through the sayings of the Fathers and the Popes, the teachings of the Councils and the prayerful strains of the Litm~gy has not ceased proclaiming its belief in the Queenship of Mary.1 Hence it can be said that this special dignity is a fact we dare not disbelieve. It is also a comforting truth, one whose nature ,, it is greatly beneficial to grasp and meditate upon. Let us, therefore, attempt to understand the nature of this honour that we may unfold the true significance of Mary's glorious title: _Queen of Heaven and Earth-Regina co eli, gloriosa Regina mundi.

  • Mariology- Part II- Mother of the Church, Assumption, Queen Of
MARIOLOGY: PART II MOTHER OF THE CHURCH, ASSUMPTION, QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND MARIAN DEVOTION BY: REV. FR. PHILIP-MICHAEL F. TANGORRA, STL, JCL MOTHER OF THE CHURCH • As Mother of God (Mother of the True Body of Christ), Mary is Mother of the Church - the Mystical Body of Christ: Mary’s motherhood of the People of God, the Church, flows from her union with her Son, Jesus Christ. “This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfilment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation .... Therefore, the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix. (Vatican II, dogmatic constitution on the Church Lumen gentium 62: AAS 57 (1965) 63.)” • Pope St. Paul VI: (from the papal audience of Nov. 18, 1964, where Mary was given the title “Mother of the Church”: “Maria, as we know, occupies a most singular position, she too is a member of the Church, she is redeemed by Christ, she is our sister, but according to her election as the Mother of the Redeemer of humanity, and in accord with her perfect and eminent representation of the human race, she can rightly be called morally and typically the mother of all humanity, and especially ours, of us believers and redeemed, the Mother of the Church, the Mother of the Faithful.” ASSUMPTION • Body and Soul in Heaven: Seeing that Mary is Immaculate, her body already redeemed from the moment of her conception by the power of the Cross of Christ, after she died, her body and soul received their glorification — in accord with the post-Resurrection glory of Christ’s body — and she was brought into heaven.

  • Queen of Heaven Catholic Religious Awards Program Leader and Parent Guide
.. ··• Queen of Heaven Catholic Religious Awards Program Leader and Parent Guide FORWARD This program has been developed by the Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts, Camp Fire and Junior Catholic Daughters of the Dallas Diocese. It is designed· for use of Catholic members of ·these organizations, age 10 to 12 years. It is not designed as a substitute for a formal religious education program. The overriding goal of this program is to show Mary as the model of all Christian virtues. By reading the Bible passages, reflecting upon the Mysteries of the Rosary and learning the feasts honoring Mary, the girl should learn that she can look to Mary as a model for every situation in her own life. This program is a progression from the Lady of Guadalupe emphasis on Mary as our mother, and a preparation for the Marian Medal. · While the booklet can be completed by a girl working on her own, the Committee recommends that leaders consider a group format. This promotes greater understanding of the topic as girls share their ideas. Try to encourage participation by all Catholic girls, not just those in troops associated with the parish or. school. There are many Catholic girls in public school troops who may want to participate. Consider an announcement in the parish bulletin to help get the word out to all who may want to join your group. · Leaders should refer the non-Catholic members of the troop to the religious awards program of each girl's faith. Pray Publishing can provide information on these programs. See www.praypub.com.
