    (6) Evaluation of Sewerage Facilities 1) Sewer Network Results of hydraulic analysis (flow capacity) on sewer network of Panaji City to identify problems in existing condition, year 2001, are shown in this section. a. Study Methodology The steps of analysis are shown below. Step 1: Figure out sewer service area, population Step 2: Presume contributory population of target sewers of network Step 3: Presume design flow of each sewer Step 4: Figure out diameter, length, and slope of each sewer Step 5: Figure out flow velocity and flow capacity of each sewer (Manning’s formula) Step 6: Compare the flow capacity with the design flow and judge Assumptions as shown in Table 32.12 are set for the analysis on the sewer network for evaluation of sewer network capacity. Table 32.12 Assumptions for Sewer Network Analysis Item Assumption Population Adopt population mentioned in the Report for year 2001 Connection rate 100%, that is whole wastewater generated is discharged into sewers Contributory population of each sewer Distribute zone population to each sewer catchments proportional to its sewer length Sewer cross-section area reduction due to Not considered silting Flow capacity margin Not considered b. Sewerage Zone wise Population and Wastewater Quantity Sewerage zone wise population and generated wastewater quantity in year 2001 have been considered as shown in Table 32.6. c. Flow of Each Sewer As contributory area, population and flow of each sewer for year 2001 are not mentioned in the Report “Project Outline on Environmental Upgrading of Panaji City, Phase-1”, it was assumed 3 - 83 that population in the catchment area of each sewer is proportional to its sewer length.

Gadhegāls from Goa, India Harshada D. Wirkud 1 1. Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute, Yerwada, Pune‐ 411 006, Maharashtra, India (Email: [email protected]) Received: 30 August 2017; Revised: 09 October 2017; Accepted: 04 November 2017 Heritage: Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies in Archaeology 5 (2017): 201‐211 Abstract: Gadhegals/Gadhegāls, a unique type of land or such grant stones, generally, are inscription (inclusive of the Gadhhegāli i.e. the ass curse) bearing stones with a sculptural panel depicting sodomitic copulation between a donkey and a woman. It is from this panel that they are termed as Gadhegals (Gadhe: Donkey and Gal: Stone). Thus, Gadhegāl Stambha or simply Gadhegals are prepared, mostly unifaced stone pillars or blocks either dressed or undressed usually with three panel divisions, with one panel informing readers about the gift/donation made by a King/Ruler to a Brahmin or such worthy person/s and imprecatory verses cursing the person who dares oppose that which has been informed on the pillar, a typical scene of bestiality depicted in another panel and a sacred Kalaśa panel with sun and moon symbols denoting eternity. The depictive panel which pictorially represents the curse in toto, is perhaps a phenomena observed for the first time in case of direct correlation with the inscription. Gadhegāls of such description have been found mainly in Maharashtra and also from various others states namely Gujarat, Hyderabad, Bihar, Goa etc though with variations. In this paper the author will be discussing instances of Gadhegāls from the state of Goa namely from temple complexes and museums in colligation to the art historical details, stylistic variations and similarities with those from Maharashtra.

Science Teacher, Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Shirshire Bori-Ponda Goa DOI: 10.46609/IJSSER.2021.v06i05.006 URL: https://doi.org/10.46609/IJSSER.2021.v06i05.006 ABSTRACT Sustainable Development is receiving growing attention from academicians, industry representatives and policy-makers (e.g.,United Nations, 2016; European Union, 2014 Elkington (1997), using the so-called “triple bottom line,” suggests that equal consideration should be given to financial, environmental, and social dimensions when making business model and policy decisions. Future Shock written by the famed futurist Alvin Toffler, in which he defined the term ‘future shock’ as ‘too much change in too short a period of time’. In the Covid 19 pandemic too, it is the ability to cope with change, cope with the new normal, Toffler said back then 50 years ago that ‘copability’ will be more important in the future than ‘capability’ in this pandemic Some will succeed, some will struggle, some will perish. Survival of the fittest is the new mantra of this pandemic. The COVID-19 lockdowns in the State and the country has actually become a game-changer for the agriculture sector, almost in all the taluka villages of Goa. Farmers, who had given up cultivation for decades are moving back to the occupation. In all likelihood, nature, wildlife, traditional occupation like agriculture, fishing will be preferred over beaches and temples & churches in the months ahead.
