FIS Nordic World Ski Championships are not only a big event for athletes and millions of international fans, but also a challenge as well as an op- portunity for the concept of sustainability. The World Championships, along with the necessary facilities, require sufficient space and resources, they emit greenhouse gases and influence eco-systems as well as natural habitats and the economic region. For the organizers of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2021 and the market town of Oberstdorf this means: Acting today to ensure that future (sporting) generations are not compromised in their development.
