State Scholars Amidst the many tragedies that have struck the nation, a recent nuclear disaster has added to the concerns. p.3 Reach out, Provide A recent attempt to cool down nuclear reactions within the plant, using ocean water and pumps, by the Japanese military has failed. The power outages across Japan Relief have affected not only residential and commercial properties nation-wide, but also p.4 Lose Our Speech, temporarily shut down the Naiichi Nuclear facility that houses six nuclear reactors. The malfunctioning of these reactors has caused multiple explosions that have Lose Ourselves released drastically dangerous amounts of radiation into the atmosphere.     Frequently Asked Questions Driver Education & Behind-the-Wheel Registration Bremen High School District 228 1) Can a student get their learners permit immediately after they successfully complete the classroom portion of driver education? No, after you have successfully completed the classroom phase you must sign up for behind-the-wheel (BTW) with District 228, another high school or a private driving school. 2) How does one register a student for one of the BTW sessions? Registration for BTW is moving to an “on-line” format. Information about how to complete the registration process will be provided in various ways including mailed letters, email, District 228 website, Facebook and direct communication by your student’s instructor. Registration will be February 1 - 24, 2021 or as long as seats are available. 3) What BTW sessions are available for students/families to select? Students/families will be afforded the opportunity to register for their session. Each session will consist of 10 drives/dates. 4) Can a student register for BTW at any school in District 228? Yes, students may complete BTW at any of the four district high schools. Please locate schedule for the current year to identify which two schools will host BTW sessions in June. The remaining two schools will subsequently host the July BTW sessions. 5) Does District 228 offer the classroom phase in the summer?     Chicago Summer Business Institute Preparing Today’s Students to Become Tomorrow’s Professionals January 31, 2012 Dear School Administrator, It’s that time of the year again! This year represents the 22nd anniversary of the Chicago Summer Business Institute (“CSBI”). The CSBI program is sponsored by businesses throughout Chicago and is designed to introduce Chicago high school students to the business industry through a meaningful work experience, as well as seminars. Since its inception, the CSBI program has helped numerous Chicago high school students expand their horizons and experience the excitement and boundless opportunities available to them through a paid summer internship in the city’s business and legal communities. We need your help in making this program available to students who are currently sophomores and juniors of your high school. Enclosed are brochures, applications and Certificate of Income Verification forms to be photocopied and distributed to your sophomore and junior students who meet the eligibility requirements and are interested in participating in this program.
