The Fray Hit the Big Screen in NCM's Firstlook January 16, 2014 The Fray Hit The Big Screen In NCM's FirstLook First Band to be Integrated into NCM Media Networks' Movie Pre-Show Experience CENTENNIAL, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NCM Media Networks, the top national cinema network in the U.S., is bringing critically acclaimed Denver-based foursome The Fray to the big screen as the first featured artist in NCM's FirstLook pre-show program. The Fray's latest single, "Love Don't Die," will be integrated throughout NCM's FirstLook in AMC, Cinemark, Regal Entertainment Group and other top movie theaters nationwide, generating excitement for the band's highly anticipated new album. Helios, the fourth album from The Fray, will be released February 25 on Epic Records. "Love Don't Die" has already received early critical acclaim from the Denver Post as well as Billboard hailing its "bare emotion bolstered by echoing backing vocals and unexpected twang." Due to the genre’s flexible nature, many Christian artists over the years have used vague imagery and secular lyrical content to find favor among mainstream outlets. This study examined the most recent ten-year period of CCM to determine its ability to cross over into the mainstream music scene, while also assessing the impact of its lyrical content and genre on the probability of reaching such mainstream success. For the years 2008-2018, Billboard data were collected for every Christian song on the Hot 100, Hot Rock Songs, or Hot Country Songs in order to detect any noticeable trend regarding the rise or fall of CCM; each song then was coded for theological language. No obvious trend emerged regarding the mainstream success of CCM as a whole, but the genre of Rock was found to possess the greatest degree of mainstream success. Rock also, however, was shown to have a very low tolerance for theological language, contrasted with the high tolerance of Country.

The use of music, lyric analysis, and songwriting can provide a space for adolescents to express themselves and process their struggles they have encountered in their lives. Music, lyric analysis, and songwriting can also be used as a way for adolescents to build their self-identity and help them to make important life decisions. These concepts are all related to the attachment, self-regulation, and competency (ARC) model created by Blaustein & Kinniburgh in 2005.
