As EPA President, I am particularly proud of the goals achieved this year, which were made possible thanks 10 • EARLY CAREER PSYCHIATRISTS to the enormous amount of work done by previous presidents and a very dedicated staff. However, I am also aware of the great responsibilities these achievements bring to the EPA Board and Executive Committee. This notably involves continuing to offer to all mental health actors a world-class European scientific congress; promoting excellence 10 • PRIZES AND AWARDS in psychiatric clinical practice and research; offering the EPA’s members, both individuals and NPAs, services with high added value that meet their expectations; becoming the voice of European psychiatrists and NPA’s in Europe; 12 • SECTIONS supporting the development of far-reaching European public mental health policies; taking the leading role in bringing together patient, caregiver and mental health care providers. And tackling many other challenges head-on.

12 • EUROPEAN PSYCHIATRY JOURNAL In order to respond effectively to these major challenges, today it is necessary for us to develop a shared vision and a long-term strategic plan for the EPA. The active commitment of the whole EPA community, EPA Board, Committees, NPAs, Sections, Members, and staff, 14 • MEMBERSHIP as well as our ability to join forces altogether, are crucial to building an ambitious and rallying long-term strategic plan. I am counting on the contribution of each and every one of you and would like to sincerely thank you for your 15 • COMMUNICATION continuous support and enthusiastic commitment towards achieving the EPA’s mission!
