  • The English Have a Deserved Reputation for Being Unusually
The English have a deserved reputation for being unusually resilient and courageous people, despite their ultra-white skin, which may be genetic or simply the virtual absence of any sunlight at all. As you Map App your way for more than two hours from Heathrow towards Norwich just north of Snetterton, you eventually pass through some very concentrated pork country - acre upon acre covered with thousands and thousands of pink English pigs out in the open and they too never tan, so it may just be a genetic thing after all. It's fairly important not to be too literal traveling north on the A11 in northeastern English countryside, as approaching Snett there are quite a few confusing highway signs. Spooner Row, for example, isn't a drug rehab center, it's a village. Not a cleaning service, but a village too is Branham Broom. Watton isn't a Jayzee hiphop line inquiring if anything's happening; like Spooner Row, it's just another nearby town. Dogs Trust Rehoming Center - of course they do. What dog wouldn't, but this ended up not being a verb, but a center for abandoned animals. Having now reached the mid-point in the British GT championship with 3 races behind us and 3 ahead (Oulton, Rockingham, Silverstone done, with Brands Hatch, Zandvoort and Donnington to go), magic Matt Bell and I are in P3 only half a point from P2 in the series. It would take 12 or 13 paragraphs to explain Race Control's data catastrophe at Silverstone's 3 Hour race where the officials proved scrambled eggs are better left so.

FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION The first ever longdistance classic car rally in the jewel of Arabia An invitation to join a historic classic car tour in Arabia’s best kept secret. LONDON 8 MARCH 2015. 26 cars will take part in the first ever Oman Grand Tour, a 20 day longdistance classic car rally which is being organised by Londonbased Rally Royale. This preseventies classic car adventure covers three historic cities over 3000 kilometres in three weeks. Starting in Oman’s subtropical ancient Salalah the route follows the magnificent coastal road, travels via the Wahiba Sands and into the Green mountains. After visiting the legendary Muscat, the tour goes further north via spectacular Musandam and finishes in UAE’s modern metropolis of Dubai. Speaking about the rally, Ruba Jurdi, founder and chief executive of Rally Royale, said there is an overwhelmingly positive response to the Tour scheduled to take place in December this year. Entries are being registered from all over the world for this historic event. Oman is unique among the Gulf Region nations, and especially famous for its hospitality. Upon arrival in Salalah, the tour will kick off in style with the Oman Ministry of Tourism hosting a magnificent gala. 150 celebrity figures, local dignitaries, and special ‘Royale’ guests will enjoy the cultural fusion that Oman offers. After some 12 days of driving, the tour arrives at Oman’s capital Muscat. Jurdi says, “officials in Muscat have told me that they look forward to Rally Royale’s debut arrival. I think we can expect some special events to celebrate Rally Royale’s grand tour of this superb country.” She goes on to say “drivers are going to love this historic city which brilliantly marries modern life with its proud cultural heritage.

LOLA AT 60 WE CELEBRATE ONE OF THE GREAT RACING CAR CONSTRUCTORS Including FROM BROADLEY TO BIRRANE GREATEST CARS LOLA’S SECRET WEAPON THE AUDI CHALLENGER The success of the Mk1 sports-racer, usually powered by the Coventry Climax 1100cc FWA engine, brought Lola Cars into existence. It overshadowed the similar e orts of Lotus boss Colin Chapman and remained competitive for several seasons. We believe it is one of designer Eric Broadleyʼs greatest cars, so turn to page 16 to see what our resident racer made of the original prototype at Donington Park. Although the coupe is arguably more iconic, the open version of the T70 was more successful. Developed in 1965, the Group 7 machine could take a number of di erent V8 engines and was ideal for the inaugural Can-Am contest in ʼ66. Champion John Surtees, Dan Gurney and Mark Donohue won races during the campaign, while Surtees was the only non-McLaren winner in ʼ67. The big Lola remains a force in historic racing. IN TOUCH THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF DUNLOP MOTORSPORT [ www.injection.tv ] LE MANS RACE EDITION Dunlop came away from the Le Mans 24 hours delighted with the performance of its dry and light wet tyres after a difficult race in which the changing condi- tions contributed to the overall result. “We were pretty competitive in all conditions other than full wet conditions,” says Dunlop’s chief tyre technician Matthew Simpson of the LMP2 tyres. “On the slick tyres and the light wet tyres, we had a performance advantage, but in full wet conditions we struggled to get temperature into our compounds. The Essex car had engine trouble so we were never going to do better than we did, but we have to look at the tyre perform- ance in wet conditions and make it better. “The Virgo Ferrari team were very strong and our development construction at the rear allowed us to double stint safely. There was no sign of difficulty in doing so, and there was zero deterioration from the first lap to the last in a double stint, according to the drivers. Le Mans podiums for Essex Perhaps we could have triple stinted, but we didn’t test that before the race and during the race was not the time to try. Porsche and Farnbacher Ferrari “The Creation team had four punctures and three of them were caused by debris. There was not enough left of the tyre to establish the cause of the fourth.” The 2008 edition of the Le Mans 24 hours produced was difficult to drive because sometimes the power was everything from a record breaking qualifying and race there, other times it wasn’t and we couldn’t know what to John Nielsen, Casper Elgaard and Sascha Maassen pace, a record crowd of 258,500 turning out in eager expect.
