When a person stops using opioids after using them consistently, the brain experiences physiological symptoms that can make it very difficult for a person to learn new skills. Opioid treatment, also called “medication assisted treatment,” uses medication to stabilize the brain while a person engages in counseling & skill- building. It is the most effective treatment for opioid use disorder. ChangePoint Integrated Health – Community Bridges, Inc.
