PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release 25 February 2018 PNB presents tithes over RM8 million to Johor State JOHOR BAHRU:- His Majesty Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar was honoured to receive PNB business tithes to the Johor State amounting to RM8,388,000.000. The cheque was presented by Group Chairman of PNB, YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar to His Majesty Sultan of Johor at Pasir Pelangi Palace, Johor Bahru. Also present at the event were President & Group Chief Executive, YBhg Dato’ Abdul Rahman Ahmad, Deputy President & Group Chief Financial Officer, YBhg Dato’ Mohd Nizam Zainordin, and Head Shariah Management, Dr. Ahmad Basri Ibrahim. The business tithes paid by PNB are calculated based on the defined ‘haul’ and ‘nisab’. However, the tithes do not cover the income distribution to account holders who invest in unit trust funds managed by Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB). The concept of urban mosque stems from more extensive reasons that mostly come from the overall issues of industrialization. Considering the challenges related to rapid urban growth, public institutions, such as mosque and its compatibility is required to be assessed in the context of compact cities. This study, therefore, aims to evaluate the planning and layout of six different styles of mosque in Malaysia regarding their suitability in compact urban settings. Due to its genre, the study adopts a case study as a qualitative research strategy as its research method. Content analysis is conducted on the compiled literature to indicate the expected outcome. Following a brief comparative discussion, this paper shows that mosque with modern architectural style among all six typologies is most suitable in the context of compact urban settings. Factors considered for the evaluation of mosques include layout progression of the mosque whether horizontal or vertical, provision for vertical stacking of spaces, symmetry in topology as well as in elevation and space types regarding flexible usage. A proportion of the capital accumulated from these exports flowed back into the region and served to improve productivity in exploiting these natural resources. Processing manufacturing plants, supporting industries and financial services were established as a result of both backward and forward linkages. Within the triangle, the proximity of geographical location and existing connections facilitated the flow and distribution of capital of various ethnic groups. In the colonial period, this network was formed and maintained mainly by Europeans and Chinese, whereas the Malays were designated to play an increasing role in the post-war period. This chapter focuses on capital and capitalists, differentiating by ethnic origin, and identifying the impact on capital networks. Rather than following a chronology, the discussion is arranged by economic sector, that is agriculture, manufacturing and finance. This chapter concludes with an overview of individual and joint performance of Singapore, Johor and the Riau Islands analysed in Porter’s Diamond Model. 128 Genesis of a Growth Triangle 1. From the statement of claim filed, it would appear that whatever agreements reached between the plaintiff and the defendant were all verbal. 2 The defendant after entering appearance in this suit applied to the court to stay proceedings on grounds of forum non conveniens. This contention by him was that the appropriate forum to try the plaintiffs claim was either Malaysia or Indonesia and never Singapore. The defendant prevailed before the learned assistant registrar. The plaintiffs appeal and further arguments before me were not successful for the reasons which follow. This includes supplying more than 16,000 food packages with basic household groceries weekly since April last year to needy peo- ple from all 10 districts in the state. They have also donated millions worth of medical supplies, hand sanitiser, face masks, personal protective equipment, ventilators and other items to frontliners in Johor. Sultan Ibrahim, who celebrates his official birthday today, is often described as a caring and generous Ruler who never fails to come to the aid of his rakyat in dire times. While many of his activities have been curtailed since the pandemic began, the Ruler has been working with his Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation and state government officials to dispatch aid to the rakyat.
