At the time of applying, applicants must sign a Statutory Declaration that they are: • A permanent resident of the ACT • Working no more than 20 hours per week in paid employment • Turning 61 after 30 June, 2017 or born before 1 July, 1957. Did you know the age eligibility for applying for an ACT Seniors Card has changed from 60 to 61? From 1 July, 2017 applicants now have to be 61 years of age to be eligible. This change does not affect current Seniors Card holders or those who turned 60 before 1 July, 2017.

Your ACT Seniors Card number is uniquely linked to your NSW Opal Card which allows ACT Seniors Card holders access to concessional fares in NSW. Please note: When replacing a lost or damaged ACT Seniors Card it is also necessary to reapply for a NSW Opal Card as your Seniors Card number will change. 11 Consumer Advice When buying goods and services with your Seniors Card, please consider the following: • Obtain the normal quoted price before showing your Seniors Card and requesting a discount. • When making an appointment for a service advertised in this directory as “free consultation” or “discounted service”, please mention that you are a cardholder when making the appointment. • To obtain a discount, you need to present your Seniors Card at the cash register, prior to payment! • If you have difficulties in obtaining discounts from providers listed in this Directory, please advise the Seniors Card Office so that the matter can be investigated. • If you discover a business offering discounts to seniors and they are not listed in the Directory, please advise the Seniors Card Office. The businesses can then be contacted and encouraged to register with the scheme.

12 Using your ACT Seniors MyWay Card on ACTION buses

The combined ACT Seniors Card and MyWay bus card, provides easy access to concession fares for seniors using ACTION bus services. Seniors under 70 will be required to load money on to their card at a participating MyWay recharge agent in order to use it as payment for bus services. Seniors over the age of 70 can travel free. Using your MyWay card is the cheapest way to travel on ACTION buses. Remembering to tag on and off the bus with each travel will ensure you are charged the correct fare. You can save an additional 5% on your already discounted fares by topping up using Autoload (direct debit) or BPAY. Alternatively, you can still access concession cash fares by presenting your co-branded Seniors MyWay Card to the driver when boarding. An interstate Seniors MyWay Card is available for purchase from selected Access Canberra shopfronts for seniors card holders who are not residents of the ACT.
