“ BRICK TEAM” CANDIDATE: WELCOME TO THE ”DETROIT RED WINGS BRICK TEAM” TRYOUT & SELECTION PROCESS. You are officially invited to try out for the Detroit Red Wings Brick Team. The Detroit Red Wings have once again accepted an invitation to send a team to attend this year’s Super Novice Brick Showcase Tournament! The event is an exclusive tournament by invitation only and truly an honor and opportunity of a lifetime for our players. The ”DETROIT RED WINGS BRICK TEAM” will bring together the most talented 2009 aged hockey players in the State of Michigan. The team will represent Michigan at the prestigious Brick Invitational Super Novice Hockey Tournament held annually in Edmonton, . This year’s tournament will take place July 1st – July 7th, 2019 at the West Edmonton Mall whose unique ice rink is centered in one of the largest facilities in the world. Not only does the tournament provide great hockey, but also there are many off-ice activities to make the tournament a fun filled experience for the entire family. The objective is to assemble a team to represent Michigan and to make it a special and fun experience to compete against top talent from around North America. For those of you not familiar with “The Brick”, it is the most prestigious tournament for 9 & 10-year-old hockey players and an experience unlike any other in the hockey world. The Edmonton Brick Showcase is an exclusive tournament including an elite group of fourteen teams joining the tournament by invitation only. The fourteen teams from North America participate in the Super Novice AAA tournament each year representing their region. Played entirely at the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, the Brick features teams representing 6 provinces and 7 states and leaves each team charged with gathering the best players in their region. Teams from Detroit, Chicago, Minnesota, Connecticut, Boston, Pennsylvania, California, (2), Quebec, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba are represented. The Brick Invitational Super Novice Hockey Tournament has a terrific history of NHL players that have attended in the past. Some of the most noted Detroit Brick team alumni are Drew Miller, David Booth, Tim Gleason, TJ Hensick, Matt Hunwick, Steve Kampfer, and Jeff Lerg. Over the years, the tournament has seen the likes of Darren Helm, Steve Stamkos, Jonathan Toews, Dany Heatley, Dion Phaneuf, Mike Comrie, Jay Bouwmeester, Brent Seabrook, Cam Barker, Travis Zajac, and Dustin Byfuglien pass through on their way to the NHL as well. If you think you have what it takes to be a member of this team, please read through all the information and register for the upcoming Brick Team tryouts by no later than March 17th, 2019. PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDACE FOR TRYOUTS For those Travel Hockey Players born in 2009 and are interested in becoming a part of this year’s Detroit Red Wings Brick team, tryouts will be conducted on Saturday (3/23/19) & Sunday (3/24/19). As part of the tryout process, we encourage only the top end travel players born in the 2009(or later) calendar year to attend. The tryout identification process is based on current playing level and various coach’s recommendations.

The 2009 Detroit Red Wings Brick team is not pre-selected before the actual tryouts. The only requirement is that you reside in Michigan with the exception for the three (3) import player provision. Hopefully your child can be one of the 15-17 players that will help represent the 2009 Detroit Red Wings Brick Team in Edmonton.

Please fill out the application form, waiver, and bring it to the first tryout on March 23rd.
