Ghana Bird Walk: July, 2016 (Sakumono Lagoon) Are you a bird enthusiast or are you interested in being part of a network of bird watchers and learning more about the birds of Ghana? Then join the monthly bird walk on the last Saturday of every month from 7a.m. to 9 a.m. The birding site and meeting point for each month will be communicated and advertised as widely as possible, but you can help spread the word further. The next bird walk (30th July) will take place at the Sakumono Lagoon, which is one of Ghana’s six Ramsar sites. Ramsar sites are wetlands of international importance, designated under the Ramsar Convention. The meeting point is the Celebrity Guest House (Figure 1 shows the route from Labadi Road, marked as ‘A’ and from Spintex Road, near the Accra Mall, marked as ‘C’ to the meeting point, marked as ‘B’). Figure 2 is a close-up of both driving routes, with point A being along the Teshie-Nungua road, and point C being close to the end of Spintex Road. The bird-walk starts at 7am, so kindly endeavour to be there early.
