The 2020 Corvette C8 Stingray road car made an early appearance at IMSA’s 2019 trip to Road America. Corvette engineer Ed Piatek introduced the car to a throng of fans. Michelin engineer Lee Willard, who led the development of the street tire for the mid-engine Corvette C8 Stingray, describes the relationship:

“The Michelin all-season tires on the new C8 Corvette enable the Corvette owner to drive all year round,” Willard said. “When you think about the qualities of Michelin—long-lasting, high performance, no compromise—that’s the same thing as Corvette.” Flashback

Last year’s IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge race at Road America was one for the ages. Delayed, then shortened, by both weather and darkness, the GS and TCR field put on a show racing on a mix of either MICHELIN® Pilot® Sport GT slick or rain tires.

Robin Liddell drove a memorable last lap in GS, coming from fourth to first in his No. 71 Rebel Rock Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R. Liddell passed coming up the hill, as Wittmer accidentally hit the pit lane speed limiter button on his No. 75 Compass Racing McLaren 570S GT4.

TCR also had last-lap drama. Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker secured the win in their No. 21 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Veloster N TCR after the winning car on the road received a penalty for a drive-time violation.
