Capital Campaign Update – Total Numbers as of March 20, 2019

Phase I Pledges $ 2,947,751 Phase II Pledges $ 822,869 Total all Pledges $ 3,770,624 Goal $ 4,064,672 Balance Needed $ 294,052 Total Cash Received $ 2,619,639 Capital Campaign Accomplishments: • A New Latchkey building that is clean, safe and warm for all of our Students here at St. Pius X Church and School to use daily. • A New Youth Ministry Center that gives our treasured youth a place to gather, learn and live their Faith. • A Storage Area that saves the Church, School and all Ministries over $12,000.00 each year so they can spend these hard earned funds in their programs and ministries. • Six Additional meeting rooms for our Parish and Ministries. Having access to state-of-the-art Audio Visual Systems to teach young and old about our Faith in Jesus Christ. • A Commercial kitchen that can feed 300 with ease. Many events scheduled the next few months will be Pasta Dinners, Fish/Shrimp Fries for Lent, and Pancake Breakfasts on various Sundays after the 8:30 and 10:15 a.m. Masses. • A New Revenue Stream for our Parish to help defray all new operating costs for our New Build. • We have been so very successful with our Capital Campaign, that another Parish in the Diocese has met with us to see the best way to run their Capital Campaign. On December 23, we announced our new goal for our “Continuing To Renew All Things In Christ” Capital Campaign. That goal of $4,064,672.00 left us with $449,617.00 to raise. In 11 weeks, we have received $155,565.00 toward this new goal or a balance of $294,052.00. We have also received over $2.6 million in cash for the Campaign. Thank you all very much for your continued generosity. I discussed with Joe Neville from Guidance In Giving in our monthly call if there is something else we can do. Joe said our Parish is his model for one of the most successful Capital Campaigns he has had the privilege of being involved with. He encourages all of our Parishioners who have been involved with pledges to extend their pledge period. If you finished a three-year pledge, to try to extend for another three years. If everyone who finished up their Phase I pledge did that, he said we could start on construction of the Narthex expansion April 1st. Please review your pledge time frames and extend if at all possible. Please review the architectural renderings of our Narthex expansion in the bulletin last week. This insert provides additional information on just what this expansion will look at. Father Dave, John Beyer and the Campaign Staff are asking all of our parishioners and friends to do three things. First, please continue to pray for the success of our Capital Campaign. Second, please be generous with your continued pledges. And third, continue to be an Ambassador by becoming informed and involved, enthusiastically sharing this information with as many people as you can, and encouraging others to become involved, and invite others to attend our functions in the New Hall. The Fish/Shrimp Fry last Friday was a huge success and funds raised are used to support our Seminarians. The next event in the New Parish Center is the last Fish/Shrimp Fry on Friday, April 5. We have heard from 697 of our 2,059 registered families for Phase I. We have heard from 427 families out of 1,930 families registered at St. Pius X for Phase II. If you have pledged toward Phase I, thank you. If you have pledged toward Phase II, thank you again. If you have not pledged, please prayerfully consider a sacrificial pledge for Phase II.If you are able to increase the length of time for your pledge, please respond via email to [email protected] or drop a note in the offertory. We have asked all of our parishioners to extend their pledges from 2 or 3 years to 5 or 8 or even 10 years. Many of you have listened and have done this. Thank you. This is why we continue to make weekly strides. Please consider extending the years on your pledge. If every registered parishioner gave $152.00, we could start on the expansion.

If you ever notice any issue with your Capital Campaign billing statement or update letter, please give John Beyer a call at the Parish Office and these will be updated immediately. Please continue your support of our Church and School by your prayers and offertory tithing during our Capital Campaign build. Please be thankful for all that we have here at St. Pius X Church and School.

SAINT OF THE DAY FOR MARCH 29

Saint Ludovico of Casoria (March 11, 1814 -March 30, 1885) Saint Ludovico of Casoria’s Story: Born in Casoria, near , Arcangelo Palmentieri was a cabinet-maker before entering the Friars Minor in 1832, taking the name Ludovico. After his ordination five years later, he taught chemistry, physics, and mathematics to younger members of his province for several years. In 1847, he had a mystical experience which he later described as a cleansing. After that, he dedicated his life to the poor and the infirm, establishing a dispensary for the poor, two schools for African children, an institute for the children of nobility, as well as an institution for orphans, the deaf, and the speechless, and other institutes for the blind, elderly, and for travelers. In addition to an infirmary for friars of his province, he began charitable institutes in Naples, Florence, and Assisi. He once said, “Christ’s love has wounded my heart.” This love prompted him to great acts of charity. To help continue these works of mercy, in 1859 he established the Gray Brothers, a religious community composed of men who formerly belonged to the Secular Franciscan Order. Three years later, he founded the Gray Sisters of St. Elizabeth for the same purpose. Toward the beginning of his final, nine-year illness, Ludovico wrote a spiritual testament which described faith as “light in the darkness, help in sickness, blessing in tribulations, paradise in the crucifixion, and life amid death.” The local work for his began within five months of Ludovico’s death. He was beatified in 1993 and canonized in 2014. Reflection: Saintly people are not protected from suffering, but with God’s help, they learn how to develop compassion from it. In the face of great suffering, we move either toward compassion or indifference. Saintly men and women show us the path toward compassion.
