  • Oslo Grand Prix
Oslo Grand Prix Søndag 10. mai kl 12.00 INTERNASJONAL Årgang 7 Nr 39/2009 Kr 25,- VG OSLO GRAND PRIX 2009 Greetings from the Mayor of Oslo It is a pleasure to welcome you to Oslo. This city was founded more than a thousand years ago, and has served as the political centre of Norway since the reign of King Håkon Magnusson (1299-1319). Despite all the changes it has undergone during this time, Oslo’s most prominent feature has always been the contrast between the hustle and bustle of the city itself and the pristine nature which surrounds it. From the race track at Bjerke there is only a short walk to the forest, which is several times bigger than the city itself. The people who live here love the woodlands and the fjord which Oslo borders on as much the city itself, and on hot summer days there may be more of us on the islands and by the lakes than there are on the streets. The city, too, has much to offer its citizens and visitors. Our new National Opera House has reinforced Oslo’s reputation as a city of grand and groundbreaking architecture, and it has become one of our most popular attractions along with the Vigeland Park, the City Hall, and the Holmenkollen ski-jump (which is being rebuilt for the 2011 World Championships). But the most rewarding way to experience Oslo will perhaps be a stroll in the city streets and along the waterfront. The competitions you will take part in are presumably no relaxing affair, and Oslo can provide the tired and stressed with tranquility and rest.

Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) chairman Clay Horner said the reaction he?s had to a new WEG / Meadowlands integrity rule (full story here) has been overwhelmingly positive, but there were enough serious concerns from some major industry players that the rule is now being tweaked. The language behind a revised rule could be available as early as next week.
