The 58th Annual High School Art Show: Virtual Exhibition Work by students from Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties in Southwestern Indiana March 28 - April 25, 2021 This exhibition is presented in memory of Shirley K. Wright with a generous gift from Robert B. and Marianna S. Wright in partnership with The Friends of the Evansville Museum Erin Berger Claudia Congleton & Timothy Weir Kimberly & Douglas Johnson Princeton Community High School Jon Siau This Exhibition is presented in Memory of Shirley Kremp Wright (1929-2003) Shirley Wright is remembered as a woman of tremendous style and a great love of the arts. A wife, mother of five and grandmother to ten, she had an amazing ability to provide encouragement and was considered to be “the glue that held her family together.” In 1963, only one year after the Evansville Museum Guild was formed, Shirley Wright suggested that the volunteer association organize an art exhibition of the work of local high school students. The High School Art Show has made an important impact on the lives of literally thousands of young artists enrolled in public, private, and parochial high schools in Southwestern Indiana. In recognition of Shirley Wright’s myriad gifts and the tremendous legacy she has provided with the establishment of this annual art competition, we are deeply honored to dedicate this exhibition to her memory. JUROR’S STATEMENT Henri Mattise said, “Creativity takes courage”. As I judged the many wonderful submissions for this year’s art show, the one consistent theme that tied each piece together for me was just that… courage.
