Insider Tips! Some of your favorite Disney characters have found themselves together on the island of Te Fiti. Some were welcomed here by the island for a time of self-discoveryYours in beauty and growth. and service, Other’s led here by chance. All should be well in such a paradise but a magical spell has been cast blocking Aurora everyone from leaving when the time came to return home. Personal items have gone missing. There is distrust and confusions among the visitors. A sure recipe for disaster. Can the characters work together and find a way to escape before tensions bubble over and they lose one of their number forever. Game Play Structure The characters have all been given the backstories on the slides below along with some objectives for game play and some personal items. While characters are in breakout rooms, they will attempt to investigate the cause of the spell on the island and various means of escaping. During that time, the island of Te Fiti will let the audience know the secrets and desires of the characters and narrate the actions taken by each character. You can watch and “play” along. Trying to guess which character eventually decides to protect their secret or master their objective at all costs... Important Plot Points 1. Many characters are on the island for a Princess to queens convention hosted by Aurora with the help of Moana. The Evil Queen, Mulan, and Iridessa are all there as speakers. Belle, Ariel, Merida, Shuri, Kristoff, and Moana as attendees. Megara crashed the convention much to Aurora’s dismay. Kronk is the chef for the convention. 2. Heihei is on the island but unlike Mushu did not accompany his human here. 3. Shuri only agreed to come to the convention because she wanted to join an Avengers mission Scarlet Witch and MJ are on investigating unusual solar patterns there. 4. Penny, Suga Mama, Dory, and Eeyore are all vacationers on the island surprised to be caught in this sudden drama. 5. Sabine Wren wasn’t even supposed to be in this galaxy, let alone the island. Her two-person ship crash landed here separating her from her crew. 6. Candace got stuck here trying to chase her brothers Phineas and Ferb around the world on another one of their rule breaking adventures. Ariel (she/her) played by ● Connection to story: ○ Ariel is taking advantage of being invited to the Briaunna Princess to Queens convention as an extended vacation away from the stresses of palace life. (she/her) This time with new and different friends has been really refreshing for her. ● Items: ○ A very shiny knife from her collection back home. ○ Ariel is missing her journal that she’s used and written in for years. Aurora (she/her) played by K.Alexandra ● Connection to story: ○ Aurora is hosting a Princess to Queens (she/her) convention, and left the planning a bit haphazard since she had to take a nap in the middle of sending the invites. ● Items: ○ A misplaced object of someone else's... but I can’t say who ;) Belle (she/her) played by Kerrie ● Connection to story: ○ Belle was invited to the Princess Convention, (she/her) but has a much more carefree attitude about who else was invited, considering her newfound status ● Items: ○ Belle is missing her mirror which now works as a two-way communication device. She was using it to communicate with her father, Maurice. Candace Flynn ● Connection to story: (she/her) played ○ Phineas and Ferb have been suspiciously by Maggie hopping from island to island. Candace tried to follow and got stuck on Te Fiti. She is (she/her) wondering if they are responsible for this and found a suspicious item they left behind. ● Items: ○ A misplaced object of someone else's... but I can’t say who ;) Dory (she/her) played by ● Connection to story: Brittany ○ Lost her way during her ocean travels and found Te Fiti. Has discovered many of the (she/her) islands secrets swimming around the lagoons but can’t remember them well. ● Items: ○ Dory is one of a handful of contestants with a truth card- any question she asks of another player must be answered truthfully. Eeyore (she/her) played ● Connection to story: by Porshea ○ Pooh and Christopher Robin surprised Eeyore with a ticket to visit Te Fiti to relax for (she/her) once. She’s having a hard time actually relaxing and enjoying her time since she’s now unable to get off the island. ● Items: ○ Eeyore has her trusty hammer. Just in case her tail falls off while on vacation. Evil Queen (she/her) played ● Connection to story: by Kristina ○ Controversial Guest Speaker at the Princess to (she/her) Queens convention ● Items: ○ The Evil Queen has somehow maintained her magic powers despite the weird spell energy on the island. They can be useful in a variety of ways. Heihei (he/him/his) ● Connection to story: ○ Came to Te Fiti to reimagine himself as more played by than the village punchline for jokes. Was Deborah surprised to find the convention here. The island has given him the ability to (she/her) communicate with others effectively. ● Items: ○ HeiHei is one of a handful of contestants with a truth card- any question he asks of another player must be answered truthfully. Iridessa (she/her) played ● Connection to story: ○ Iridessa has been called to the Princess to by Basil (mix & Queens convention to speak as a Fairy match or Ambassador. Iridessa has expected something to go wrong this whole time and takes no they/them) pleasure knowing she was right. ● Items: ○ Iridessa is missing her pixie dust. Once she finds it, she will be able to use her light powers again. Kristoff (he/him) played by Sarah ● Connection to story: ○ Anna was originally invited to the Princess to (she/her) Queens convention but wasn’t able to make it. Kristoff is here in her stead and hoping to learn some pointers about being a good ruler. ● Items: ○ Kristoff has a pick axe and a rope that he usually brings with him wherever he travels. ○ A misplaced object of someone else's... but I can’t say who ;) Kronk (he/him) ● Connection to story: played by Talia ○ Kronk is the Executive Chef at the Princess to Queens convention. He has been working (they/them) very hard to provide the best hors d’oeuvres to really make his name as a talented caterer and this is his big break. ● Items: ○ World class cookware including a sturdy frying pan or two. Megara (she/her/hers) ● Connection to story: played by ○ Meg heard about the Princess to Queens convention and decided she should shake Stephanie things up from her perspective as the consort (she/her/hers) to a demi-god. ● Items: ○ A golden lasso gifted to her by an old friend. It is extremely valuable and has multiple purposes. Merida (she/her) played by Olivia ● Connection to story: (she/her) ○ A guest at the Princess to Queens convention. Came at her family’s suggestion and is unsure about the experience. ● Items: ○ A bow and arrow of course MJ (she/her) ● Connection to story: played by ○ In an attempt to get to know Peter’s friends Briana (she/her) better and find her own heroic identity, MJ has accompanied Scarlet With and Shuri on an investigative trip to the island. It’s not exactly going well. ● Items: ○ A map of Te Fiti- it seems to reveal things when she asks the island directly. Moana (she/her) played ● Connection to story: by Kai ○ Chief of Operations at the Princess to Queen Conventions. Got permission from the island of (they/them) Te Fiti to use the location for the event. Is distressed by the fact that it has all gone wrong and they have overstayed their welcome. ● Items: ○ Moana is one of a handful of contestants with a truth card- any question she asks of another player must be answered truthfully. Mulan (she/her) played by Mel ● Connection to story: (she/her) ○ Aurora is hosting a Princess to Queens convention and has invited Mulan to speak. ● Items: ○ Mulan has her father’s sword. Not because she planned on needing it; she just doesn’t like leaving it behind at home. Mushu (he/him) played by Tara ● Connection to story: (she/her) ○ Here as Mulan’s aid and friend. Not sure why everyone is so upset about an extended vacation. He knows Mulan will find a way out of here when all is said is done. ● Items: ○ His fire breath of course. You never know when it will come in handy. Penny Proud ● Connection to story: (she/her) played ○ Penny was supposed to be on a girls getaway chaperoned by Suga Mama and by Jas (she/her) is now stuck on this island with no friends and some bougie Princesses. She’s ready to be out of here. ● Items: ○ A metal detector she brought along with her for the trip. Sabine Wren (she/her) played ● Connection to story: ○ Her two-man spacecraft crashed on the island by Ariana a week ago. She is trying her best to complete (she/her) repairs so she can reconnect with her crew. She suspects others have magic that could help but won’t. ● Items: ○ Sabine has her spacecraft. Unfortunately, it’s broken and she’s still trying to figure out which earth tools can help. Scarlet Witch (she/her) played ● Connection to story: ○ The Avengers team has noticed some by Britt suspicious activity on the islands. They’re (she/her) investigating independently on different islands. ● Items: ○ Scarlet Witch has a book detailing the plant and animal life on the island of Te Fiti.

    Volume 10 Issue 2 (2021) AP Research Superheroines and Sexism: Female Representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Folukemi Olufidipe1, Ms. Yunex Echezabal1 1Doral Academy Charter High School, Miami, FL, USA DOI: https://doi.org/10.47611/jsrhs.v10i2.1430 ABSTRACT The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time and since the premiere of Iron Man in 2008, it has risen to fame as a source of science-fiction entertainment. Sexism in the film industry often goes brushed aside but the widespread success of Marvel Studios calls attention to their treatment of gender roles. This paper explores the progression of six female superheroes in the MCU and what effect feminist movements have had on their roles as well as upcoming productions in the franchise. This paper used an interdisciplinary, mixed- methods design that studied movie scripts and screen time graphs. 14 MCU movies were analyzed through a feminist film theory lens and whenever a female character of interest was chosen, notes were taken on aspects including, but not limited to, dialogue, costume design, and character relationships. My findings showed that females in the MCU are heavily sexualized by directors, costume designers, and even their male co-stars. As powerful as some of these women were found to be, it was concluded that Marvel lacks in female inclusivity. Marvel’s upcoming productions, many of which are female-focused, still marginalize the roles of their superheroines which is a concern for the future of the film industry. Marvel is just one franchise but this study shows how their treatment of female characters uphold patriarchal structures and perpetuate harmful stereotypes that need to be corrected in the film industry as a whole.
