• OH CANADA: In a road win against the Raptors on Dec. 5, Toronto native Tristan Thompson poured in season highs of 21 points and 14 rebounds (nine offensive) in 33 minutes off the bench. • CLEANUP MAN: On Halloween night in Chicago, Tristan Thompson came off the bench and grabbed a franchise-record tying 12 offensive rebounds, becoming the first Cavs player to ever reach that amount as a bench player. The previous high for a Cavs reserve was 10 by Kenny Carr (11/28/79) and John Williams (12/11/91). The last NBA player to pull down 12 offensive rebounds as a reserve was Denver’s J.J. Hickson, who had 15 offensive rebounds on 2/25/14 vs. Portland. In the 114-108 overtime win, Thompson finished the night with a double-double of 16 points on 7-13 (.538) shooting, 13 rebounds and two blocks in 36 minutes off the bench.

COMEBACK KINGS: On the season, the Cavs have won after overcoming eight double-digit deficits (trailed by 12 points vs. New Orleans on 11/10, 19 points at Boston on 11/14, 11 points vs. Milwaukee 12/2, 11 points at New York on 12/4, 14 points vs. Toronto on 12/9, 11 points vs. Brooklyn on Dec. 19, 10 points at Orlando on 12/26, 11 points at Charlotte on 1/2). On Nov. 14, the Cavs overcame a 17-point fourth quarter deficit by outscoring the 38-20 in the final frame to pick up the 122-121 win on the road. • Cleveland also set a Quicken Loans Arena record by scoring 129 points in regulation with the previous high mark being 127 (12/11/1999 vs. Atlanta and 11/15/2014 vs. Atlanta).

• The Cavs’ 35-point lead at halftime (75-40) against Charlotte became their new franchise record, besting the previous mark of 34 points during the first half against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Nov. 26, 2008 (66-32).

• Cleveland’s scored 75 points on 28-46 (.609) shooting from the field in the first half, including 7-11 (.636) from three-point range. The last time the Cavs scored at least 75 points in the first half was against the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 11, 1999.

• The Cavs had all 13 players that saw the floor make a field goal in the victory.

• LEADING THE WAY OVER L.A.: In a 120-105 win over the Lakers on Feb. 8, Kyrie Irving (28 pts/10 asts), Kevin Love (32 pts/10 rebs) and LeBron James (22 pts/10 rebs) became the first Cavs trio to record double-double with at least 20 points in over 10 years. The last time was Dec. 5, 2004 against Toronto (James, Ilgauskas and Gooden).

• ASSISTS MEN: In the Dec. 21 win over Memphis, Kyrie Irving (17 pts/11 asts) and LeBron James (25 pts/11 asts) became the first Cavs duo to register points-assists double- doubles since April 6, 2010 vs. Toronto (James 19/13, Mo Williams 14/12). • GLASS CLEANERS: In the Cavs’ first ever win at the Barclays Center on Dec. 8, the Cavs outrebounded the Nets by 22 (55-33), their largest margin on the glass since Feb. 28, 2014 vs. Utah (+25, 56-31). Three Cavaliers pulled down at least 12 rebounds in the win (Love-14, Varejao-14, Thompson-12), which was the first time that has happened since Jan. 3, 1984 against Milwaukee (Jeff Cook-12, Paul Thompson-13, Lonnie Shelton-12). Thompson (8 offensive) and Varejao (7 offensive) became the first pair of Cavs to pull down at least seven offensive boards in a game since Nov. 7, 2006 vs. Atlanta (Zydrunas Ilgauskas-7, Drew Gooden-7). • DOUBLING UP: In a 105-91 victory at Toronto on Dec. 5, the Wine and Gold had three players record a double-double (James-24 pts & 13 asts, Love-15 pts & 13 rebs, Thompson-21 pts & 14 rebs). But it was the first time since Jan. 30, 2005 that three Cavs players had a double-double with at least 15 points (Drew Gooden, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Jeff McInnis vs. Milwaukee). The Cavs would later repeat this feat during a 108-94 win against Chicago on Jan. 19 when Love (16 pts/12 rebs), Timofey Mozgov (15 pts/15 rebs) and Kyrie Irving (18pts/12 asts) each garnered a double-double, as well as Feb. 8 versus the Lakers. SPREAD THE WEALTH: In a wire-to-wire 108-94 win over the Chicago Bulls on MLK Day at The Q, all five players in the Cavaliers' starting lineup scored at least 15 points: LeBron James (26), J.R. Smith (20), Kyrie Irving (18), Kevin Love (16) and Timofey Mozgov (15). It was the first time in almost 22 years that the starting five for the Cavs all scored at least 15 points in the same game. The last such instance was on March 16, 1993 against the 76ers: Mark Price (20 points), Gerald Wilkins (19), Larry Nance (19),Brad Daugherty (19) and Craig Ehlo (16). In the very next game, a 106-92 victory against Utah on Jan. 21, all five starters once again scored at least 15 points (James-26, Love-19, Irving-18, Mozgov-16, Smith-15), marking the first time in franchise history that’s happened in back-to-back games. No NBA team had done this since the L.A. Clippers on December 17 & 19, 2008. (Elias)

WINNING IN L.A.: The Cavaliers' back-to-back wins in Los Angeles over the Lakers (Jan. 15) and Clippers (Jan. 16) marked just the fourth time that a team won road games at Staples Center on consecutive days. The Grizzlies turned that trick in December 2004, as did the Mavericks in both October 2009 and April 2014. Cleveland also won all four games in 2014-15 over both L.A. teams, the first time doing that since the 2009-10 season.

MIKEY ON FIRE: In his first start of the season on Dec. 19 against Brooklyn, Mike Miller finished with a season-high 21 points on 7-8 (.875) shooting from three-point range in 34 minutes. It was Miller’s highest career three-point percentage when hitting at least seven triples in a single game. The last Cavalier to make at least seven three-pointers and miss one triple was Daniel Gibson (7-8 vs. Utah on 12/20/10), while the last NBA player to do it was Kevin Love (8-9 vs. SAS on 12/13/13). Miller’s 21 points were also the most points scored by a Cavalier on all three- pointers (J.R. Smith later tied it on Jan. 23 vs. Charlotte). The previous club record for such a thing was 15 points, done five times by , twice by Daniel Gibson and once by Alonzo Gee.

BLACKJACK: The Cavaliers scored the first 21 points of their 97-88 win over Charlotte on Dec. 15. The last NBA team to score at least the first 21 points of a game was Portland, who opened up a 22-0 lead against Boston on February 21, 2004. (Elias Sports Bureau)

PUT 26 ON THE SCOREBOARD: In the 111-108 win over Milwaukee on Dec. 2, the Wine and Gold had three players score 26 points or more (Irving-28, Love-27 and James-26). The last time that feat was accomplished in a single game was Dec. 29, 2006 when James (32), Donyell Marshall (29) and Larry Hughes (26) each scored more than 26 in a 109-99 victory at home, which was also against the Bucks. A BUNCH OF FIVES: Against the Hawks on Nov. 15, Cleveland dished out a season-high 39 assists, which were two shy of tying the Quicken Loans Arena record (41 vs. Detroit on 4/9/14). Five Cavs players dished out at least five or more assists (Waiters-8, James-7, Irving-5, Love-5, Varejao-5). RAINING THREES: In the Cavs’ win over Atlanta on Nov. 15, Cleveland had a record-setting night from the three-point line after shooting 19-31 (.613) from deep.

• The Wine and Gold set a franchise record (19) and tied a Quicken Loans Arena record (Orlando 19 triples, 12/28/10) for three-pointers in a game.

NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE - CANTON CHARGE

CANTON CHARGE UPDATE: The Canton Charge, the NBA Development League team owned and operated by the Cleveland Cavaliers, presented by SecureData 365, improved to 18-14, after defeating the Sioux Falls Skyforce (15-13), 101-91, at the Sanford Pentagon on Saturday night. The win was Canton’s fourth straight overall, with the last three coming on the road. The Charge are outrebounding their opponents 188-124 during their winning streak, including 63-30 on the offensive glass. The Charge came into the game with the top scoring defense in the D-League (96.7ppg) and are now 14-4 when holding opponents under 100 points. All-Star Arinze Onuaku posted a double-double of 23 points on 11-of-17 shooting with 13 rebounds and a block in 36 minutes. Brandon Paul scored 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting with six rebounds and a steal in 30 minutes. The Cavs’ Joe Harris added 11 points, six boards, a steal and a block in 28 minutes. DELLY HELPS LOCAL FIFTH GRADERS LEARN ABOUT HEART HEALTH ALONG WITH CLEVELAND CLINIC AND SAVORFULL: With February marking American Heart Month, the Cleveland Cavaliers are doing their part to help local youngsters learn the importance of living a heart-healthy lifestyle. This past Monday, the Cavs teamed up with Cleveland Clinic and Savorfull to show 30 fifth graders from Cleveland’s William Cullen Bryant School that you’re never too young to start practicing healthy habits. Cavs player Matthew Dellavedova hosted the students at Cleveland Clinic Courts for an interactive, comprehensive lesson on heart health as part of the team’s Fit as a Pro program, presented by Medical Mutual and Giant Eagle and in association with Musselman’s Apple Sauce. Dr. Dermot Phelan, Director of the Sports Cardiology Center at Cleveland Clinic, led the group through a fun and educational special “heart edition” of “Jeopardy.” Cleveland Clinic Director of Cardiac Rehab, Dr. Gordon Blackburn, took the kids through exercises they can do at home to maintain their cardiovascular health. Cavs team nutritionist Stacy Goldberg, MPH, RN, BSN, helped the students learn about making sound choices through food label reading exercises. The CEO & Founder of Savorfull also assisted the group in making their own heart-healthy snack.

SHAWN MARION AND LOCAL SIXTH GRADERS WORKING OUT MINDS AND BODIES: A lucky sixth grade class from Cleveland’s Benjamin Franklin Elementary School received the chance to work out their brains and their bodies with the Cleveland Cavaliers this past Tuesday (February 3rd). Cavs forward Shawn Marion hosted the students at Cleveland Clinic Courts as part of the team’s Read to Achieve program, presented in association with Castaway Bay. The group participated in the popular game Catch Phrase, with a Cavaliers twist. As part of this month’s Read to Achieve activities, the students have been learning about other ways to engage in reading, such as by playing games. Catch Phrase, for example, requires reading the game unit’s screen and giving clues about the word or phrase for teammates to guess. In between practicing their reading skills on Tuesday, the students also worked on their shooting and dribbling skills on the Cavs’ hardwood.

11TH ANNUAL BLACK HERITAGE CELEBRATION TIPPED OFF ON MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY: The Cleveland Cavaliers 11th annual Black Heritage Celebration (BHC) tipped off on Martin Luther King Jr. Day— Monday, January 19th at the Cavs vs. Chicago Bulls game at Quicken Loans Arena. The celebration themed “Making a Difference. One Generation to the Next," started with the team remembering Dr. King, the pastor, activist and humanitarian who led the African American civil rights movement. In February, Black History Month, the Cavs will feature themed game nights dedicated to recognizing the achievements of African Americans who have paved the path for the next generation. The team's game presentation will continue to highlight inspiring black history moments- interviews with influential African Americans, including notable Cavs legends and players; and special halftime performances. There will also be several community outreach initiatives during the month as Cavs players and front office team members volunteer their time and service to projects throughout Northeast Ohio. The Cavs, in partnership with Hennessy, have teamed up with the Marcus Graham Project (MGP) to host a four-day Sports Marketing Workshop for diverse professionals (February 26th through March 1st at Quicken Loans Arena). The Marcus Graham Project is a network of young professionals formed with the purpose of developing the next generation of leadership by mentoring and training ethnically diverse men and women in all aspects of the advertising, media and marketing industry.
