Enjoy Lake Lahontan Lahontan State Recreation Area is located 17 miles west of Fallon and is one of the most popular recreation areas in Nevada. Lahontan Reservoir is 17 miles long with more than 70 miles of shoreline and 10,000 acres of surface water when full. Boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing are popular activities. Fishing at Lahontan is open all year. State records for channel catfish, white crappie and white bass have been taken. Walleye and largemouth bass are also 3plentiful. There are also two day-use picnicking areas with modern restrooms, tables and grills.
