He was both the warmest and most generous person you could meet—always chatting up the little people, and donating millions to Indiana’s library—and one of the most obstinate, foul-mouthed people I’ve ever come across. I can still remember the sound of his rants echoing through the halls of the basketball building during afternoon practices. CoSIDA E-Digest October 2012– 31 Columbia College Athletic Hall of Fame to welcome CINDy FOTTI POTTER Columbia College alumni Cindy Fotti Potter will be inducted into the Columbia College Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 5 at the 10th annual dinner and induction ceremony to be held in the Banquet Room in Dulany Hall. Fotti has served in various capacities in the Athletics department including sports information director, coach of the Cougar softball team and currently serves as the assistant director of athletics and is responsible for media relations and compliance. Fotti ’05 will be recognized for her contributions to the Columbia College softball team. During her two years as a member of the team, Fotti was named captain of the softball squad. She was named All-American Scholar Athlete and also made the All-Region and National Tournament All-Tournament Team. Fotti is entering her second year of a three- year term on CoSIDA’s Board of Directors. Fotti married Cory Potter in July.

I relate this story because no matter the strides made in technology, the key to this organization and our profession are the relationships with fellow SIDs and going out of our way to help one another.

Through the years, there have been a number of people who have been so helpful to me, whether it be media, SIDs, administrators, etc. One I must mention is my assistant Butch Kamena, who also handles compliance and academic athletic advising, and teaches 400-level courses in political science in his spare time. The part-time assistants I’ve had have been huge and our game-day staff 2013 can’t be beat. Without all of these people, I wouldn’t have lasted very long. I’m deeply indebted to all of them.
