He proved to be as good as advertised in his Pilot debut as he played in 24 games and helped lead the Pilots to a Fab Four appearance in the Buffalo Funds-NAIA National Championship Tournament. During his 24-games this season Davis averaged 22.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per game as he led the NAIA with 19 double-doubles including ending the season with nine straight double-doubles. Also listed as part of the All-Tournament Team are the winners of the Charles Stevenson Hustle Award, presented to the player exhibiting the greatest determination and hustle throughout the tournament, and the Dr. James Naismith-Emil S. Even after the final buzzer sounded on the 2012-13 season LSU Shreveport's name was still mentioned on the final day of the Buffalo Funds-NAIA National Tournament. Rodney Milum and Brandon Davis were both named to the All-Tournament Team at this year's tournament while as a team the Pilots claimed to Dr. James Naismith-Emil S. Liston Sportsmanship Award. The Pilots Head Coach Kyle Blankenship was recognized with the Charles A. Krigel Award which is presented to the coach of the squad that earns the Naismith-Liston Sportsmanship Award for his leadership to his team. The Sportsmanship Award says a lot more than who wins on the court but also who will likely be the winners off the court as it is given to the team that displays the best sportsmanship of any of the teams at the tournament. The Pilots were quick to lend a helping hand when one of their opponents hit the floor and are also one of the first ones to wipe the sweat off of the floor while showing respect to fans, tournament officials, coaches and the referees. The Sportsmanship Award shows a true sign of character which the Pilots show all season long. The tradition of Good Sportsmanship continues at LSU Shreveport. Davis and Milum was one of the top scoring duos in the country and their performance in the National Tournament was no different as Davis dominated averaging a double-double for the tournament pouring in 25.5 points per game and pulling down 13.5 rebounds per game while Milum shot 44-percent from beyond the arc as he averaged 23.5 points per game. He finished the game with 32 points, eight rebounds and five assists and hit 12-of-20 shots from the field. “We wanted to try and attack the rim and get into the lane, but it just so happened that Monty came in on the back side right there and banged another shot,” said Georgetown head coach Chris Briggs. That’s what he does. He’s a gamer and he wants the ball when it’s crunch time.” Georgetown (27-8) trailed 80-70 with 6:01 remaining following a three-pointer by the Pilots’ Rodney Milum, but used a 13-2 run over the next 3:36 to take an 83-82 lead.
