I am pleased to report that after a number of challenging years, we finally have a sense of good health on the horizon for the marine industry in NJ. Since the collapse of the economy and Hurricane Sandy, the boating industry has been hit very hard with losses that will take years to recover from. However, recently the industry has seen modest growth in new and used boat sales as well as brokerage boats. Fuel companies are reporting an increase in sales as well and there are more boaters out on the water enjoying our waterways and having fun. We can certainly thank Mother Nature for the beautiful weather we have been having which has greatly helped everyone this year. The industry’s growth is due to the hard work and perseverance of our marine professionals and the recreational boaters who choose to spend their money and recreate with us. Be sure to visit our new website GoBoatingNJ.org for all of your boating resources. As for our much appreciated members, we will be holding our biennial conference in March 2015. This is an educational event that provides our marine businesses with a wealth of knowledge and information. It is always a huge success thanks to our conference presenters, sponsors and exhibitors and there are plenty of opportunities to participate. More details will be available soon and we hope to see everyone there in 2015. We will once again be hosting two boat shows that you will not want to miss: The Jersey Shore Boat Sale and Expo at First Energy Park in Lakewood NJ “Home of the Blue Claws” September 19th -21st 2014. NJ Boat Sale and Expo at the NJ Convention and Expo Center in Edison NJ February 19th -22nd 2015. Last year’s NJ Boat Sale and Expo was in great demand and sold out. So if you are interested in exhibiting, don’t delay; reserve your space now. If you want to attend or need more information on either of these shows, visit JerseyBoatExpo.com Since becoming President of the Association, I have had the pleasure of working with many of our members, board members and state agencies along with a dedicated staff working behind the scenes to insure the organization and industry’s success. The Association is extremely fortunate to have Melissa Danko, Chelsea Simkins and Alissa Malkemes and we appreciate their expertise and dedication to the association. In closing, I would like to thank the consumers who patronize our members businesses listed in this handy directory and all of the members for their continuous support. Sincerely, Fred Brueggemann MTA/NJ President Directory Updates at mtanj.org 3 About The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey Established in 1972, the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey (MTA/NJ) is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to advancing, promoting and protecting the recreational marine industry and waterways in New Jersey.
