Claire Danes CLAIRE DANES Claire Danes has established herself as one of Hollywood's leading actresses. Danes currently stars on Showtime’s critically acclaimed series “Homeland.” For her performance as “Carrie Mathison” she has won back to back Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama” and a 2013 SAG Award for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.” Danes also received critical acclaim for her performance in HBO's 'Temple Grandin" biopic. Based on the extraordinary life of Temple Grandin, the film chronicles how she turned her unique talent into a behavioral tool that revolutionized the cattle industry and laid the groundwork for her successful career as an author, lecturer, and pioneering advocate for autism and autism spectrum disorder educations. Danes won the 2010 Emmy Award for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie" and the film won for "Outstanding Made for Television Movie." She also won the 2011 Golden Globe Award for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television" and the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Award for "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries." Danes starred in Richard Linklater’s critically acclaimed film, "Me & Orson Welles" opposite Zac Efron and Christian McKay. The screenplay by Holly Gent Palmo and Vincent Palmo Jr. is based on the novel by Robert Kaplow and is set in the heady world of Orson Welles' famed Mercury Theater. The National Board of Review named the film as one of 2009's Top Independent Films. In 2007, Danes made her Broadway debut starring in George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion" opposite Jefferson Mays. Her performance as 'Eliza Doolittle' was well reviewed by critics. In particular, we analyze the historical networks of the World’s leaders since the beginning of written history, comparing them in the different Wikipedias and assessing cultural chauvinism. We also identify the most influential female leaders of all times in the English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese Wikipedia. As an additional lens into the soul of a culture we compare top terms, sentiment, emotionality, and complexity of the English, Portuguese, Spanish, and German Wikinews. 1 Introduction Over the last ten years the Web has become a mirror of the real world (Gloor et al. 2009). More recently, the Web has also begun to influence the real world: Societal events such as the Arab spring and the Chilean student unrest have drawn a large part of their impetus from the Internet and online social networks. In the meantime, Wikipedia has become one of the top ten Web sites1, occasionally beating daily newspapers in the actuality of most recent news.     THE FACE OF AN ANGEL SYNOPSIS The brutal murder of a Bri1sh student in Tuscany leads to the trial and convic1on of her American flatmate and Italian boyfriend in controversial circumstances. During its pioneering era, Hollywood was dominated by women who occupied every aspect of the filmmaking process, both off and on screen; but the consolidation of the studio system in the 1920s and 1930s served to reduce the scope of opportunities for women working in off-screen roles. Celebrated exceptions like Ida Lupino, Dorothy Arzner, Norah Ephron, Nancy Meyers, and Katherine Bigelow have found various ways to succeed as producers and directors in Hollywood’s continuing male-dominated culture. More typically, as recently as 2011, “women comprised only 18% of directors, executive producers, cinematographers and editors working on the top 250 domestic grossing films” (Lauzen 2012: 1). At the same time, on-screen representations came to be increasingly predicated on a gendered star system that privileges hetero-masculine desires, and are dominated by historically specific discourses of idealized and fetishized feminine beauty that, in turn, severely limit the number and types of roles available to women. As far back as 1973 Molly Haskell observed that the elision of beauty and youth that underpins Hollywood casting impacted upon the professional longevity of female stars, who, at the first visible signs of aging, were deemed “too old or over-ripe for a part,” except as a marginalized mother or older sister.
