  • Cricinfo Analysis to Find Patterns in Profiles for Predicting Future Captain
International Journal of Scientific & Engineering Research Volume 9, Issue 12, December-2018 1967 ISSN 2229-5518 Cricinfo Analysis to find patterns in profiles for Predicting future Captain Muhammad Kashif Faiz1, Dr. Malik Muhammad Saad Missen2 1Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Pakistan. 2Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Pakistan. [email protected] ABSTRACT The selection of captain is dependent on the performance of players in terms of various parameters in their areas of expertise. In this thesis we propose a method for measuring qualitative parameters in existing captains’ profile and by developing an ideal profile, we set a threshold, that can be applied any of the player for predicting about whether he can be next captain or not. A real dataset of more than 76 Captain of different countries from Cricinfo is considered for analysis purpose. The findings from our research can be used to improve the quality of information retrieval and decision making. Cricinfo is a large database and having information about large number of players estimated about 50000 players from all over the world. So it can be considerable for different types of experiments and analysis. Our aim in this research work is to search and forecast about behaviors of existing captain profile's data and by building an ideal profile, forecasting about other players, where any other player is suitable for captainship or not. Keywords: Cricket, Strategy, Ranking, Prediction, qualitative analysis IJSER 1. Introduction Expert System are used to solve problem as a human can do. But there are reasons where it is desirable to use expert system rather to use human expert like availability of human expert is limited while in contrast expert system is always available.

  • NEWSLETTER No. 241 – DECEMBER 2003
NEWSLETTER No. 241 – DECEMBER 2003 3 December 2003 - Meeting There were few more arresting sights in county cricket in the 1960’s than DAVID WILLIAM WHITE, always known as “Butch”. Whether bowling, batting or fielding he simply demanded attention. He roared to the wicket, his energetic run up culminating in a crescendo of activity in his bounding delivery stride as he hurled the ball towards the batsman as fast as was humanly possible. With the exception of Harold Rhodes he was the fastest bowler in county cricket in the early 60’s. Only those two great West Indian pace men, Andy Roberts and Malcolm Marshall, have bowled faster in the County’s cause. “Butch” White was capable of quite vivid, match-winning spells of bowling. Many will recall his final over of the second day against Sussex at Portsmouth in Hampshire’s Championship season of 1961. Sussex’s batting, despite the presence of their two illustrious strokemakers in Ted Dexter and Jim Parks, was torpid in the extreme. The weather was bitterly cold with a biting, strong wind freezing spectators to the marrow. It seemed more like February than August. Many of the day’s large crowd had drifted quietly away before stand-in captain, Roy Marshall, in his benefit match, threw the ball to him just before the seven o’clock close. His first ball bowled Parks and his next was edged by Ian Thomson to wicket-keeper Leo Harrison. He achieved the hat-trick – Hampshire’s first since 1939 – when he clean bowled Don Smith. He was still not finished.

  • PCB Highlights 1 January – 31 March 4Th Edition
PCB Highlights 1 January – 31 March 4th Edition Bangladesh tour Pakistan after almost 12 years Bangladesh men’s team became the second side to honour and fulfil their Future Tours Programme (FTP) commitments when they agreed to tour Pakistan in three phases. The decision for split tours was made in Dubai following a meeting between the Chairmen and Chief Executives of Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board, and the Chairman of the International Cricket Council. Bangladesh had initially expressed their reluctance to visit Pakistan, expressing security concerns. In the first phase in late January, Bangladesh visited Lahore for three T20s. Pakistan were clearly the better side when they won the opening fixture by five wickets and second by nine wickets, while the third was abandoned, due to the weather, without a ball being bowled. The series result meant Pakistan retained their number-one position on the ICC rankings. Before the Bangladesh team returned home, the Bangladesh Cricket Board President acknowledged that the security arrangements in Pakistan were excellent and that they had no concerns. In the second phase, Bangladesh visited Rawalpindi in the first week of February to play the first of two ICC World Test Championship Tests. Pakistan dominated all four days of the match to register an innings and 44 runs victory. This was Pakistan’s 10th win in 11 Tests against Bangladesh and fifth by an innings margin. The star of the Rawalpindi Test was teenager Naseem Shah, who became the youngest bowler in the game to claim a Test hat-trick, as Bangladesh, trailing by 212 runs on the first innings, were bowled out for 168.
