KAREN HOFFMAN - Wilson Golf Karen Hoffman was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Glenview, IL where she lived with her parents, Harry and Carolyn Hoffman, brother Bob and sisters Pam and Judy. She enjoyed playing softball and tennis growing up, and also rode horses competitively. Karen was introduced to golf by a neighbor. The two of them hit balls at the driving range, but Karen never had an opportunity to play a round of golf until she was in college at the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse, where she earned a B.S Degree in Physical Education. She immediately loved the challenge of the game. Karen never played competitive golf, but she got serious about the game after Wilson Sporting Goods Company hired her in 1974. Karen says this was the turning point in her life. “I have had the opportunity to work with many extraordinary people, starting with Joe Phillips who hired me to work for him in the Golf Promotion department at Wilson. Joe was responsible for making Wilson the number one company in golf and number one on the PGA and LPGA tours. He gave me an opportunity to learn about golf and the golf industry. I can’t thank him enough for his training and support.” Karen’s responsibilities include the PGA, LPGA and Mini Tours, College-Coach Program, Club Professional Staff Member Program and managing the legendary Patty Bergs’ National Clinic and Exhibition Program. -

Sixteen subjects (8 male, 8 female) who ran at least 6 miles per week and had not had a lower extremity orthopedic injury within the 3 months prior to testing were included in this study. Subjects were also accustomed to running in shoes; however, none of the subjects had worn HOKA shoes prior to the study. Subjects ran 10·15 trials at a self-selected pace across two force plates to measure kinetics. Contact: Peter Francesconi [email protected] 203-263-5243 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tennis Participation in the U.S. Grows To 17.9 Million Players Despite a slight decline in key ‘core’ player category, the latest research shows 1% growth overall, with another 14 million Americans showing an interest in playing. HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (July 27, 2015) — The latest research into the sport of tennis in the U.S. shows that overall tennis participation rose 1% to 17.9 million players, according to the Tennis Industry Association (TIA). The data also show growth in the number of youth tennis players, and indicate more than 14 million Americans, while not tennis players currently, express an interest in playing the sport. But the research, which is part of the TIA’s annual “State of the Industry” and based on year-end numbers from 2014, also indicates the tennis industry faces a number of challenges, including a slightly lower “core player” participation level along with an aging base of core players. In terms of overall participation, there are 17.9 million tennis players in the U.S., up 1% from 2013, according to data from the Physical Activity Council (PAC) 2015 Participation Study, the largest single- source independent sports participation project in the U.S. Core tennis players, who play 10 or more times a year, dipped 1% to 9.91 million in 2014. Core tennis players account for an estimated 90% of total expenditures in the sport. Also, the percentage of adult core players in the 18-to-24 age segment dropped nearly 3%, while core players ages 55-plus increased 1%.
