Kerala Kalamandalam Was Established in 1930 by Vallathol Narayana Menon, the Renowned Malayalam Poet in Cheruthuruthy Village of Thrissur District

> Title: Need to increase the amount of financial assistance for the development of Kerala Kalamandalam, a centre of Arts and Culture in Kerala. SHRI P.K. BIJU (ALATHUR): Kerala Kalamandalam was established in 1930 by Vallathol Narayana Menon, the renowned Malayalam poet in Cheruthuruthy village of Thrissur District. This temple of arts has preserved and propagated Kathakali − the classical dance − drama of Kerala − for the past 78 years. Many of the internationally renowned artistes of Kerala and other parts of the country have been trained here. Over the years, apart from Kathakali, this unique premiere public institution has imparted training for Mohiniyattom, Kootiyattom, Panchavadyam and Thullal. The faculties here are of high quality and with wide international experience. Recently Kalamandalam has achieved the status of a deemed university. Kerala Kalamandalam has been functioning as a grant-in-aid institution under the Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Kerala. For special Projects, the Department of Culture, Government of India and the Sangeet Natak Akademy, New Delhi have been extending financial support. For the preservation and promotion of Koodiyattom, UNESCO has sanctioned substantial financial assistance to Kalamandalam in 2004. The South Zone Cultural Centre Thanjavur, has for years, been extending financial assistance to Kalamandalam for conducting dance & music festival in this campus. To show its full potential, the institution needs enhanced financial assistance from the Central Government. I urge upon the Government to accept the projects and provide financial assistance to convert Kalamandalam into a world renowned University for art and culture. .

By investigating such phenomena and features as “liminality,” “communitas,” and the passage from one state to the other, they not only uncovered the links between the two but were also able to throw light on such aspects of performance as theatrical framing, actor transformation, audience participation, actor-audience interaction, and so on. However, the unfortunate fact is that among the later adherents to ritual/performance studies, there has developed a tendency when it comes to studies of non-Western theatres—especially tradi- tional Asian theatres—to overemphasize the importance of ritual in performance. Sometimes this is done even to the exclusion of other aspects that are equally or more vital to the understanding of performance. This inclination has also led some to explain away many features of performance by interpreting them as rituals, while obviously ignoring their value as techniques or conventions of theatre. While the manifestations of this tendency toward over-ritualization can be seen in studies of a variety of Asian forms such as nohgaku, bunraku, and kagura of Japan, kathakali of India, Balinese dances, and others, the focus here is only on the studies of kutiyattam, from Kerala in southwestern India.

Abstract This paper examines Webometric analysis the website of deemed universities in India. This study covered 125 deemed universities in India. The researcher identified and classified the four domains like State Universities, Central Universities, Deemed Universities and Private Universities. The researcher found that, out of 21 states, Tamil Nadu has a maximum of 28 (22.40%) universities, it is followed by Maharashtra 21(16.8%). The study calculated the Internal Link, External Link, back link and Size of the website. The study indicates that the numbers of backlinks are very low comparing to some of internal and external link. The researcher suggested that the websites of deemed universities need to attract more external links and impact factor by introducing novel and creative online sources and services and updates of news and research information.
