2019/20 Cricket Australia Official Hospitality Manuka Oval ——— WELCOME 2019/20 Cricket Australia Official Hospitality Manuka Oval ——— WELCOME Welcome to the 2019/20 Summer of Cricket As we ramp up our preparations for an unprecedented summer in the UK, which includes the Cricket World Cup and the Ashes, I want to thank you for your continued support of Australian cricket. Our vision is to develop great cricketers and great people. This won’t happen over the course of one summer but we are making progress. We want to make Australian’s proud of their cricket team again, and through their actions on and off the cricket field, we certainly feel the nation is starting to get behind us. We’re really pleased with how the group is preparing for two of the biggest challenges in international cricket, the World Cup and Ashes. While this is our immediate focus, we’re also looking forward to returning home for another huge summer against New Zealand and Pakistan. We love playing in front of big home crowds at some of the best venues in the world. Meeting and listening to the players in Cricket Australia’s Official Hospitality must be a fantastic experience and I’m sure you get some nice insights into the team and the individuals. Talking to friends and fans who attend the events, they often tell me two things. First it’s always about how good it is to hear their thoughts and understandings on the match, followed by how amazing it was to speak to a Pat Cummins or Nathan Lyon and find out how down to earth and accessible these players are. It’s also important for us to thank you for the impact you are having on helping the next generation of cricket players achieve their dreams of becoming the next Tim Paine or Meg Lanning. Kevin Roberts speaks about uniting and inspiring communities through cricket, and through your attendance at CA Official Hospitality events you are making a significant contribution to Australian cricket and inevitably our investment back into grassroots cricket. From the grassroots through to the Australian men’s team, we understand the importance of strong partnerships. The partnership between our players and our supporters is what makes cricket in Australia so special and so strong, and I know the boys are genuine in their vision to make Australian’s proud of their cricket team. Thank you again for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you again this summer. • The Adelaide Oval SMA Ltd (AOSMA) Is Pleased to Provide Its Written Submission to the Select Committee on the Redevelopment of Adelaide Oval
^val 31 January 2019 Leslie Guy Secretary to the Committee C/- Parliament House GPO Box 572 Adelaide 5001 By email: [email protected] Dear Ms Guy, The Adelaide Oval SMA Ltd (AOSMA) is pleased to provide its written submission to the Select Committee on the Redevelopment of Adelaide Oval. In doing so, we provide the following context we believe will be of significant value to the members of the Committee. In reviewing the first five years of operations of the redeveloped Adelaide Oval, it is important to understand the events that led to the formation of AOSMA and the creation of the eventual management model that was approved by Cabinet in 2011. AOSMA is a joint venture company of the two entities responsible for growing and developing the codes of cricket and football in South Australia - the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Both are not-for-profit organisations that, historically, derived the bulk of their revenues from staging events at their respective grounds-Adelaide Oval and Football Park (AAMI Stadium). This income was critical to their respective abilities to fund, manage and support everything from junior participation to elite level talent development, clubs and competitions. In 2009, the then Labor Government offered one chance at transformational change. However, it put the onus of proving the incredibly complex business case of bringing football and cricket together at a redeveloped Adelaide Oval on SACA and SANFL. Then-and only then-would the necessary funding for the project be provided. While this created an opportunity for cricket and football to help shape their futures, it was also a task that necessitated both organisations to make sacrifices in meeting the Government's demands.

  • Airline and Aircraft Movement Growth “Airports...Are a Vital Part of Ensuring That Our Nation Is Able to Be Connected to the Rest of the World...”
CHAPTER 5 AIRLINE AND AIRCRAFT MOVEMENT GROWTH “AIRPORTS...ARE A VITAL PART OF ENSURING THAT OUR NATION IS ABLE TO BE CONNECTED TO THE REST OF THE WORLD...” THE HON WARREN TRUSS, DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER 5 Airline and aircraft movement growth The volume of passenger and aircraft movements at Canberra Airport has declined since 2009/2010. In 2013/2014 Canberra Airport will handle approximately 2.833 million passengers across approximately 60,000 aircraft movements, its lowest recorded passenger volume since 2007/2008. The prospects for a future return to growth however are strong. Canberra Airport expects a restoration of volume growth in 2015/2016 and retains confidence in the future of the aviation market in Canberra, across Australia, and particularly the Asia Pacific region. Over the next 20 years passenger numbers at Canberra Airport are projected to reach 9 million passengers per annum with some 153,000 aircraft movements in 2033/2034. Canberra Airport, with its extensive infrastructure upgrades in recent years, is well positioned to meet forecast demand with only minor additional infrastructure and capitalise on growth opportunities in the regional, domestic and international aviation markets. 5.1 OVERVIEW Globally, the aviation industry has experienced enormous change over the past 15 years including deregulation of the airline sector, operational and structural changes in the post-September 11 2001 environment, oil price shocks, the collapse of airlines as a result of the global financial crisis (GFC), and the rise of new global players in the Middle East at the expense of international carriers from traditional markets. Likewise, Australia has seen enormous change in its aviation sector – the demise of Ansett, the emergence of Virgin Australia, Jetstar, and Tiger Airways, the subsequent repositioning of two out of three of these new entrant airlines and, particularly in the Canberra context, the collapse of regional airlines.
