The proposed work consists of alterations to the paving at the 57th Street entrance, consisting of the removal of the modern concrete and black granite paving, and the installation of a new black granite surround and illuminated translucent glass panels, as shown in drawings A-01a, dated September 3, 2002, and A-02 and A-11, with attached photographs of the existing conditions, both dated August 8, 2002, and in a materials sample of the translucent glass, all prepared by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill Architects, and presented at the Public Hearings and Public Meetings. As originally presented to the Commission the work also included the installation of illuminated panels above the 57th Street entrance and an illuminated ceiling inside the designated lobby.
