ABOUT THIS COFFEE Farmers selectively handpicked red, ripe cherries that were delivered for wet milling the same day. The parchment was fermented, washed and sun dried on raised beds, and the dry parchment was then milled and bagged.
ABOUT THE MILL In 2005, the Ruthanga, Tumutumu and Marua farmers’ cooperative societies merged to form the Rutuma Amalgamated Farmers’ Co- Operative Society Limited. It now has seven wet mills, including the Ruthagai Factory in the Mathira region of Nyeri County. The Ruthagati mill is located on the northwest side of Mt. Kenya, Region: Varieties: and the farmers who bring their cherries here have, on average, Nyeri Mostly SL 28 and SL 34 150 coffee trees each. It shares its borders with Above screen 18 five other counties: Kirinyaga to the east; Meru to the northeast; Community/mill: Laikipia to the north; Nyandarua to the west; and Muranga to the Ruthagati wet mill south. FROM OUR TEAM IN KENYA “Toward the end of 1902, the British were looking to enforce their influence KENYA and so enlisted Colonel Richard Meinertzhagen of the British Army to establish a post close to Mt. Kenya on a little hill that the Kikuyu people MICRO-LOT called Kia-Nyiri. The mission encountered strong resistance from the indigenous Kikuyu warriors, led by Kikuyu Chief Wang’ombe Wa Ihura. It is on this little hill that the current Nyeri County was built.”
