They have been performing their high-energy show both nationally and internationally. This acclaimed tribute to The Rolling Stones has won the praise of club owners, critics, fellow musicians, and die-hard Stones fans. Mick Adams channels Mick Jagger on stage with his incredible voice, range, and dance moves, and energy. Mick has twice been featured on AXS TV's, The World's Greatest Tribute Bands and has been called the world's greatest Mick Jagger impersonator. As the former lead vocalist for Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, Mick has toured with the likes of Tommy James, The Turtles, The Monkees, The Association, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Buckinghams, Herman's Hermits, and Ron Dante & the Rascals. Mick has also performed with Spencer Davis, Rick Springfield, Johnny Rivers, Neil Sedaka and rock and roll hall-of-famer Sam Moore. He has recorded with Mark Kendall of Great White as well as Ronnie James Dio's guitarist, Tracy G, and has also completed voice over work for MAD TV. Guitarist Jeff Schofield fills the role of Keith Richards with a vengeance. Born and raised in California, Jeff performed with a few locals bands before he became a founding member and co-writer in the popular 1980s Los Angeles bands, Harlot and Out To Lunch. Since the 80s Jeff has played in many original bands and tribute groups. Drummer Vince Lupo mindfully brings the sounds of Charlie Watts to the forefront. Vince's musical knowledge - possessing degrees in both music and psychology combined with his keen ear for music - enables him to perfectly shape the rhythmic textures and backbeats of the Stones' classic hits. Vince resembles the real “Wembley Whammer” and can actually recreate Charlie’s tone and tempo quite realistically. Guitarist Ron Jessurun shines as brightly as Ronnie Wood under the lights. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands and raised in California - Ron developed an early love for music he graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology in 1985. Ron performed in many bands and played for Cirque du Soleil's “Dralion” show on tour. He has opened for such notables as The Winery Dogs, Michael Schenker Group, Thin Lizzy, Black Star Riders, Foghat, and Blue Oyster Cult. Ron's skillful guitar playing has quickly earned him the suitable nickname, "Note for Note Ronnie". Vocalist and percussionist Taylin Rae is a ball of energy on stage with an incredible vocal range. She is also a vocal performance coach, currently working with Grammy Award winning engineer, Alan Sanderson, to produce up and coming artists. She grew up singing for the Oklahoma and Texas “Oprys”. With over 6,000 shows under her belt, Taylin has had the honor to perform for the USO in Ecuador and Cuba, Walt Disney, Opryland, and Nascar. Taylin continues to write and record for one of Nashville’s most successful publishing companies, Swat Music Group. She has worked with some of music’s greatest stars such as Chuck Berry, Gary Morris, Garth Brooks, Tanya Tucker, Dionne Warwick, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Ed McMahon, The Wooten Brothers, Toby Keith, Harry Connick Jr., and Colin Raye. Bassist Marvin Sperling keeps the low end on high as he performs as Bill Wyman on stage. A dynamic bass player who's performed and recorded with a wide range of artists, Marvin played violin and guitar at a young age. He soon discovered that his true instrument was the bass guitar after being influenced by The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. Marvin has played, produced, and recorded for over 40 years with artists such as Keith Emerson (Emerson, Lake, and Palmer), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi), Kelly Hanson (Foreigner, Heaven and Earth), Robert Fleischman (Journey), and Paul Shortino (Quiet Riot, King Kobra). Keyboardist Ethan Brown tickles the keys as Chuck Leavell, the "6th Rolling Stone" since 1982. Ethan performed internationally with blues greats Big Joe Turner, Joe Huston, and the legendary Chuck Berry. He worked his way through college as a musician and earned an M.S. in Geophysics – becoming an earthquake scientist and then a software engineer. As a recipient of the USO Entertainment Of The Year award, Ethan flew hundreds of miles out to sea to land on aircraft carriers returning from deployment to play Welcome Home concerts for our troops. Saxophonist Karl Sanger is as smooth and funky as Bobby Keys. Born and raised in New York and gifted at an early age with a 1200 Lida St. • Pasadena, CA 91103 Office: (626)584-8110 • Mobile: (213)709-4909 • Fax: (626)584-8122 www.selakentertainment.com golden ear, Karl played the New York club scene and studied at some of the finest institutions. A published author and solo musician as well, his love affair with music has lasted his entire life – Karl has toured and played with numerous groups including the Sam Morrison Band, Turn The Page, and Shattered Glass. Known for his sizzling sax melodies and distinct tone, Karl brings excellence, passion, and showmanship to each performance. Mick Adams and The Stones will get your audience dancing and cheering. Talented and professional, this tribute is perfect for club venues, music festivals, large concert halls, special events, performing arts centers, and casino entertainment. PERFORMED IDENTITIES: HEAVY METAL MUSICIANS BETWEEN 1984 AND 1991 Bradley C. Klypchak A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY May 2007 Committee: Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Dr. John Makay Graduate Faculty Representative Dr. Ron E. Shields Dr. Don McQuarie © 2007 Bradley C. Klypchak All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

  • On the Surface, the Story of Jordan Moore Has Been Told Countless Times Before
On the surface, the story of Jordan Moore has been told countless times before. Small town boy with big time dreams packs his entire life in the back of a U-Haul and drives to Nashville in search of a better life than the one he’s living. But this is no ordinary story. The story of Jordan Moore is a story of second chances and crazy coincidences. It’s a story of a guy who could have given up a thousand times. It’s a story of a man whose life has always been somehow divinely directed by God above. In short, the story of Jordan Moore is nothing short of extraordinary. Of course, every story has a beginning, and this story begins in the little town of Lowell, Michigan. The youngest of five children, Moore spent his days playing outside and singing in the church. When he wasn’t doing that, he was painting pictures and drawing characters he would dream up in his head. And for as long as Moore can remember, his dad always seemed to have a guitar in his hand, and had once dreamed of a day he could follow his own music dreams. But that was never part of his story. Instead, Moore’s father infused the love of music into all of his kids, encouraging them to let music play some sort of role in their life. Heck, many a Saturday afternoon was spent driving Moore himself to the local retirement home to entertain the senior citizens hungry for some sensory overload.

Prior to the fireworks display at dusk, there will be a free live concert by two classic rock bands -- hometown favorites Eastside Westside and Oakland County-based Magic Bus, which specializes in the “free love” era of music from the 1960s and 70s. “In our view, there are two groups of people -- those who lived through the ‘60s and those who wish they had lived through the ‘60s,” said Mark Harrington of Waterford. Harrington, a self-described pop historian and founder of the seven-piece Magic Bus band, said the band does a tribute to various artists of that time frame, ranging from Bob Dylan to Steppenwolf, The Birds to the Beatles. “We basically take you on chronological tour of the 1960s because so much happened during that decade that changed the country,” he said. “We focus on the last three years, the Summer of Love, Woodstock and all that.” Magic Bus will perform on the Clinton River Park stage along the river near Mount Clemens City Hall about 8 p.m. The night will begin with a 6 p.m. concert by Eastside Westside, Like Magic Bus, Eastside Westside’s set list focuses on classic rock tunes from the 1960s/70s, said band spokesman Steve Ferdig.

Mick Jagger. Archive to 1962 Photo: Photofest. As the “world’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band” celebrates its golden jubilee this year, the Museum of Modern Art in New York pays tribute with a heady cinematic survey: “THE ROLLING STONES: 50 YEARS OF FILM” (NOVEMBER 15–DECEMBER 2). But 2012 marks another anniversary as well. Forty years ago, the Stones embarked on a legendary tour to promote their new album, Exile on Main St., and they engaged two very different filmmakers—Robert Frank and Rollin Binzer—to document the affair on celluloid, producing wildly divergent results: Cocksucker Blues and Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones, respectively. Film historian DAVID E. JAMES traces the events that would ultimately transform the band’s extraordinary engagement with the medium—and with the very public on which not only their stardom but their cultural significance depended. WITH THE BEATLES’ FINAL PERFORMANCE on the roof of the Apple Records building at the beginning of 1969, documented in Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s film Let It Be (1970), the Rolling Stones’ claim to being the greatest rock band in the world was now uncontested.
