Cassady Southern’s new album ‘One Track Mind’ OUT 30 APRIL Sydney-based singer songwriter Cassady Southern has released her debut full-length album ‘One Track Mind’ on Fri 30 April 2021. The album features 9 new songs and follows the release of two singles ‘You’ and ‘Drowning’ which have received radio airplay, charted in the top 30s of the Triple J Unearthed Charts and received some positive reviews, including: Ah, this song is another masterpiece from the amazingly talented Cassady. The haunting emotion in the lyrics, the raw pain and vulnerability in the vocals are nothing short of breathtaking. Such a storyteller which always seems to take the listener to exactly where she is......This is as good as, if not better than, Breakdown. Lovin'it! (Triple J Unearthed - craigallan) This is such a great track - Cassady's vocal is loaded with emotion and cuts through like a razor - The emotion and soul is real "heart on your sleeve" lyrics - Bitter sweet and complimented by a band that drives the song from start to finish. (Triple J Unearthed - JS) Cassady’s melancholic melody really hits a heart cord. Drowning made me feel like I found myself at a truck stop near a set of crossroads after I left my lover at the petrol pump. This original and catching number will leave itself lingering in your mind will you sing along, long after it’s finished. (Triple J Unearthed - dede88) The new album showcases Cassady’s songwriting ability and draws on her musical influences including the Rolling Stones, the Divinyls and Powderfinger. With this new material Cassady has once again surrounded herself with excellent musicians, including Peter Austin and Nathan Cunningham on guitar, Craig Orth on bass and John Duffy on drums. She has also been working with excellent producers and engineers in the making of these latest tracks, including Marshall Cullen (The Divinyls, The Church and Hoodoo Gurus), Michael Zuvela (Vera Blue) mix engineer Russell Pilling (Counting Crows, Lemonheads, Grinspoon and Midnight Oil), and mastering engineer William Bowden (Grammy Award winner with Gotye). “I’m so happy to be releasing my first full-length album. It has been a dream of mine to do this”, said Cassady. “I am really happy with these new tracks. They build on my previous releases and range from upbeat rockers like ‘You’ and ‘Weren’t for love’ to heartfelt ballads like ‘Drowning’ and ‘Wake up’ and bluesy track ‘Bad feeling’. “It was great to record this album with a band I have been playing with for a while as we were able to rehearse and spend plenty of time in pre-production. It was also a thrill to work with someone of the calibre of Marshall who has worked with some of my favourite musicians including The Divinyls” she said. Cassady is hoping to be able to get out and play the new tracks live.
