M / Native American Pathways / Inwood Hill Park · 1 PM / Inwood Hill Nature Center Learn how Native Americans lived off of this pristine land right here in Manhattan. M / Open Mic Night / Inwood Hill Park · 7 PM / Inwood Hill Nature Center Share your talent with the community and join us for an evening of poetry and music. Q / History of Alley Pond Park / Alley Pond Park · 1 PM / Alley Pond Nature Center Come out and enjoy the history of this amazing park and how it was designed. The Rangers will talk about the first inhabitants of the park dating back to the 1700’s while telling stories that have been passed on through generations. SI / Animal Tracks / Blue Heron Park · 11 AM / Blue Heron Nature Center Explore the trails and discover what has been creeping about. Learn how to determine what animal left their tracks along the way. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2 BX / Owl Van Trip / Pelham Bay Park · 1 PM / Pelham Bay Nature Center *RESERVATIONS REQ. Q / Wildlife Sketching / Forest Park · 12 noon / Forest Park Nature Center An exciting event for art and nature enthusiasts alike, whether a novice or expert. Sharpen your skills by sketching native wildlife found in the park. A Ranger will guide you through this historical landmark. Meet the artist and view photographs of natural settings transformed into paintings and poetry. Doors open at 6:45 PM. Refreshments will be served. M / Snowshoeing/Winter Hike / Inwood Hill Park · 1 PM / Inwood Hill Nature Center If there is a blanket of snow, bring your snowshoes and explore the Inwood backcountry. Hikers are always welcome to partake in the wonderfully peaceful nature of this park after snowfall. Q / Vanderbilt Motor Parkway / Alley Pond Park · 1 PM / Alley Pond Nature Center Before there was a Long Island Expressway or Grand Central Parkway running through Alley Pond Park, driving enthusiasts took this exclusive route out to Long Island. Come walk on the historic trailway and share this experience, just a little more slowly.
