Scope and Contents Papers documenting the life and career of bass player Leonard Gaskin, as well as documenting the numerous other musicians he was associated with in his long career. Gaskin's career encompasses a wide range of musical genres, including gospel, rock, folk, and Caribbean music. The papers include photographs, newspaper clippings, diaries, music manuscripts, scrapbooks, publicity materials, recordings, posters, fliers and handbills. Arrangement Collection is arranged into nine series. Includes Contents: correspondence, professional and candid photographs, high school yearbook, certificate of marriage, awards, identification and membership cards, insurance information, and biographical materials. Additional materials relate to Leonard Gaskin's pursue of educational and vocational training outside of the music industry. These materials consists of a chauffer's license; home improvement instructional literature; handwritten course notes and other documents for the National Negro Television, Theater and Motion Pictures Industries; and forms from the Bronx Center for Career and Occupational Services. In addition, there are audio recordings of Dr. Ruben Duybner explaining implant procedures and a consultation with Dr. Dattatreyudu Nori, Director of the Radiation Oncology Department at Booth Memorial Medical Center in New York.
