ccording to Webster’s dictionary, the definition of the word “entertain- ing” is: amusing, enjoyable, pleasurable, hilarious, charming, humorous, Aengaging, compelling, interesting, comical and witty. While there have been many musicals written with wonderful, heartfelt, and loving messages, “Crazy For You” has just one message; to be entertaining. There is no major underlying message here other than the creators of this musical just wanted the audience to sit back in the theater and be taken away for a couple of hours from their hectic lives. This musical has the music and lyrics written by the incredible and talented duo of George and Ira Gershwin. Today, where are songs like: “I’ll Build A Staircase To Paradise”, “”, “Bidin’ My Time”, “”, “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”, “Someone To Watch Over Me”, “Nice Work If You Can Get it” and “”, just to name a few? Well, this is what you’re about to hear! So let us take you on a journey where the plot is simple, but the music and lyrics have been memorable for decades. We, the staff, crew and cast are Crazy For You to have a fun time!! Enjoy, —Bill Starr

MUSICIAN SPOTLIGHT In this program, we are initiating a special feature high- lighting people who volunteer their time and talent as musicians who provide the live music for our productions. Through the years, many subscribers/audience members have complimented our live orchestras for the wonderful backgrounds they have provided for our Broadway musicals. Tonight’s spotlight shines on Marty McHan, a very special member of our orchestra who has played for more than 50 of our shows during our 49 seasons and we are always so happy to see his smiling face in our orchestra! He is such a wonderful person to work with and the other musicians love him, too, because he brings his very special baked goods to rehearsals and performances for the company to enjoy! Marty is a very versatile musician; he plays several reed instruments (sometimes more than one for a show) and back in 1980, we remember him playing saxophone for “Good News”!! Marty is always a welcome addition to our reed section and we are so grateful to his family for allowing him the time to share his talents. His continued support and dedication are a real inspiration to the rest of us in this organization!

This is a perfect role for him since it allows him the unique opportunity to play the Upright Bass in “Slap That Bass”. He’s a relative newcomer to musical theater, having performed on this stage in SBMT’s “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” earlier this year. He is, however, a veteran of the stage, having toured the US and Canada with a variety of musical acts for over 15 years. In 1996, he claims he landed the most important role of his life “being a Dad”! By day, Michael is an electrician, but happiest when he’s on stage! He vas bald!!! That is impressive! Anyvay, Jeremiah has been inspiring young minds at St. Marys’ School in Los Gatos for the last five years. Somehow he finds the time to squeeze in acting. He graduated from University of Wisconsin- Platteville with a double major in Music Education. Jim is available for private vocal lessons and direction. Lisa Callaghan (Choreographer) Lisa also returns for her lucky eighth production in this position on our staff, having most recently choreographed last season’s “Sugar”! She first choreographed “Once Upon A Mattress” back in 2006 and has added her terpsichorean talents to “Grease”, “West Side Story”, “Breakin’ Up Is Hard To Do”, “White Christmas”, and “The Drowsy Chaperone”. Her extensive list of credits includes productions at SCU, PHS and all over the Bay Area. Lisa earned her BA in Theatre/Dance at SCU, has been dancing for over 37 years and teaching for more than 25 years. We’re always delighted when Lisa makes time for our special tap dancing shows. Stephen C . Wathen (Production Set Designer/Scenic Artist) This marks Stephen’s 72nd production with WVLO, his most recent was “Jesus Christ, Superstar”. His amazing and stunning scenic drops have been part of our most memorable musicals, including “White Christmas”, “The Drowsy Chaperone”, “Sound Of Music”, “Sugar”, “Seven Brides…Brothers” and many more, too numerous to mention. One of the animators of the Gumby TV series and a special effects designer for George Lucas films, Stephen’s impressive list of credits includes more than 400 stage productions, 25 movies and a few hundred TV series. He has also designed for other Bay Area theatrical groups; he just completed the sets for SBMT’s “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” right here on this stage and we’re always pleased to exhibit his talents and creativity for our musicals. His original musical of “Dracula” will be presented by Ohlone College this fall.

17 Michael Glenn Munoz (Lighting Designer) Michael now has 48 WVLO musicals to his credit, having just created the lighting for “Jesus Christ, Superstar”. His other lighting credits include productions with CCMT, SCPL, SBMT, SCP, Teatro Vision, LTSJ and Woodminster Amphitheater. Michael earned his BA in Fine Arts from SJSU with a minor in dance and was honored to be invited to design VMT’s production of “Broadway Unplugged” with the cast of “” and Friends at the Ford Amphitheater in LA. Dawn Munizza Johnson (Stage Manager) Dawn is back for her fifth production with WVLO in this staff position, having managed last season’s “9 To 5”; the others were “Cats”, “Sweet Charity”, “…Spelling Bee” and she was ASM for “Damn Yankees” for which she won the Tech Award. Dawn has also appeared in seven of our musicals, the most recent was as a Nun in “Sound Of Music”. Her favorite roles were Mrs. Sowerberry in “Oliver” and Lady Beaconsfield in “Jekyll & Hyde” because she loves playing evil women. The highlights of her career have been receiving the WVLO Outstanding Service Awards for 2007 and 2012 and being the recipient of the prestigious Jean Hutchins Award in 2013. By day, Dawn is a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines and Mammography Supervisor for Regional Medical Center in SJ. Her hobbies are theater (surprise, surprise), travel, reading, sewing and Renaissance Faires!!! John DiLoreto (Sound Designer) John marks his third production in this staff position after designing “Fiddler On The Roof” and “Jesus Christ, Superstar” this season. His impressive list of credits includes 30 years’ experience with TheatreWorks, SBMT, City Lights, Tabard Theatre and many more too numerous to mention. For WVLO, he played keyboard in our pit for “Honk!”, “Sugar” and “9 To 5” and has performed keyboards/vocals in rock bands for over 15 years. John holds a M.Eng. in EECS from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford. Sue Howell (Costumer) Sue returns for her twelfth costuming task with WVLO, her most recent was for “Jesus Christ, Superstar”. Her costuming efforts have also been seen in “Annie”, “The Drowsy Chaperone”, “Cats”, “Aida”, “West Side Story” , “Sound Of Music’, “Honk!”, “Grease”, “Joseph…Dreamcoat” and “How To Succeed…” She has additional credits with Saratoga HS, BBB, CMTSJ, FJC, RJIT, ATC, TheatreWorks, Ray of Light Theater and Great America’s productions as well as her work with Ballet San Jose. She is always appreciative of Jim’s patience and understanding!
