AUO | BA IN HUMAN SERVICES ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM NAMED ONE OF THE TOP HUMAN SERVICES DEGREE PROGRAMS HONORS Antioch University’s Online BA in Human Services Administration program was named one of the Top Human Services Degree Programs for 2020 by Intelligent. com. The Action Learning Fellowship is the flagship program of the foundation, bringing together thoughtful community builders with ideas and resources from the Berrett-Koehler network, to create a space for deep personal growth and collective learning. Over the next eight months, Renee will explore the linkage between positive role modeling of philanthropy, activism, and authentic leadership of Black women with the grassroots giving of time, talent, and treasure of young Black millennial women to make greater impact in the global village. Diaz is the Founder of Environmental Charter Schools (ECS). Under Diaz’s leadership as the Executive Director & CEO for the majority of the last 20 years, ECS has flourished into an award- winning educational institution with a dynamic team of commended staff members. She was nominated and honored for the 2019 Local Heroes Initiative by PBS and KCET. View the video here. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AULA | VICTORIA CHANG AWARDED A LANNAN FOUNDATION RESIDENCY FELLOWSHIP Victoria Chang, Chair of the MFA in Creative Writing Program was awarded a Lannan Foundation Residency Fellowship for 2020. The Lannan Residency Fellowship provides uninterrupted writing time for poets, writers, essayists, translators, scholars, curators, as well as Native American, environmental and social justice activists. For more information go here. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ GSLC | PHD STUDENT NAMED NEW COO OF ONECARE VERMONT PhD in Leadership and Change student Sara Barry has been named Chief Operating Officer for OneCare Vermont, an accountable care organization focused on improving population health through care delivery transformation and payment reforms. Sara brings decades of experience improving healthcare delivery systems and health outcomes. In this new role she will oversee operations, facilitate strategy, planning, resource alignment, and stakeholder communications. Learn more about her impactful work here. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AUNE | PSYD STUDENT SELECTED AS AN APA LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FELLOW Alicia MacDougall (4th-year PsyD student), co-chair of APA Division 39 Graduate Student Committee, was selected as a 2020 APA Leadership Development Fellow. A diverse group of 14 fellows (five graduate students and nine early career psychologists) was nominated by five APA Divisions and nine State Psychological Associations (SPTAs), respectively. These individuals were selected from a very competitive pool by the APAGS Committee and the Committee on Early Career Psychologists, which worked together to champion this initiative. This award is the highest individual honor recognizing lifetime achievement from PRSA, the nation’s leading professional organization serving the communications community with 30,000 members. The recipient of this award is recognized as an outstanding teacher by fellow staff, parents, and students. For more go here. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AUNE | ALUMNA WINS 3K FOR SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT Kristen Brock, Environmental Education graduate, was recently awarded a mini-grant from the Association for Middle-Level Education (AMLE) for her work with students at Colegio Americano de Guatemala. Her project started as an AUNE practicum which she then developed into a service learning project to use in her professional career. Her focus was to bring her middle-school students into rural areas of Guatemala and expose them to the realities of poverty that surrounded their international and more affluent neighborhood. For more information go here. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AUNE | CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY FACULTY WIN AWARD FOR MENTORING ARTICLE Professors Lorraine Mangione and Kathi A. Borden, Assistant Professor Katherine Evarts and their colleagues at the University of Denver, published an article in Training and Education in Professional Psychology titled Mentoring in clinical psychology programs: Broadening and deepening. Their article, focused on recommendations for mentors to enhance the training of clinical psychology graduate students, won the 2018 Most Valuable Contribution to Professional Development, Training or Supervision award from the Journal of Contemporary Psychotherapy, beating out several other nominees across other journals. For more information go here. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AU Common Thread | Winter 2020 | 3 AUNE | PROFESSOR EMERITA AND ALUMNA PUBLISH ARTICLE NEWS Gargi Roysircar, Professor Emerita AUNE Clinical Psychology Program; Ashland Thompson, AUNE ‘19 PsyD and Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and Kurt Geisinger, Meierhenry Distinguished University Professor and Director, Buros Center for Testing, University of Nebraska-Lincoln have published an article in the American Psychologist on their mental health service and research in Haiti. View the articles here. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AUNE | DMT FACULTY PRESENT WORKSHOP FOR THE VERMONT COLLEGE DANCE EXCHANGE/VERMONT DANCE ALLIANCE Tomoyo Kawano, PhD, BC-DMT and Chevon Stewart, BC-DMT presented a workshop and facilitated discussion on two of the primary founders in the field of Dance/Movement Therapy during the “Think. Move. Discover.” weekend event held at Middlebury College. Twenty-three students from Middlebury, Bennington, and Marlboro Colleges and the University of Vermont attended and participated in the experiential exercises. Rasheena is a freelance writer, MFA candidate, and pre-doctoral instructor at the University of Washington whose goal as a writer is to highlight and provoke discussions about environmentalism, environmental justice, womanhood, sexual orientation, gender identity, and social justice issues through the lenses of the Black experience.
